Ram has been all over social media promising that “Power will be reborn” on January 1, 2026. It is no secret that the company is bringing back the Ram 1500 TRX, because of its huge power and popularity. Once Ram admitted that it was keeping the HEMI engine available, fans started clamoring for the TRX that was phased out in 2024. The company promised it would return as a 2026 model.

2026 Ram 1500 TRX

As I reported in May, “Ram phased out the Ram 1500 TRX with the huge HEMI engine with a final TRX edition in 2024, as the company started to prepare for EVs. However, demand for EVs was lackluster across the board for all automakers. I reported previously that Stellantis, Ram’s parent company, resurrected HEMI production at a Michigan plant last August. Stellantis confirmed that it is not only bringing back the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 but also restarting production of larger HEMI V-8s as well. Both Dodge and Ram fans were thrilled to hear that the powerful engine was making a return.”

The Stellantis CEO further cemented the Ram TRX’s future when he confirmed in July that the truck would return as a 2026. As I reported then, “Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa responded to questions after his earnings call and confirmed that the TRX is not only coming back but expected to be a major profit center.

Ram has already brought back HEMIs to the 2026 Ram 1500. The 5.7L HEMI eTorque V8 has 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Ram got an amazing 10,000 orders for the HEMI-powered trucks as soon as the orders opened, showing there is huge demand for HEMI power. Filosa confirmed that the company knows there is significant demand for a supercharged V8 truck.

2024 Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition

As I reported in August of 2023, When Ram phased out its TRX with a final edition, it was still the “Apex Predator of the truck world” with great performance.  The Ram 1500 TRX was rated at 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque with the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine." The TRX had an incredible top speed of 118 mph. The Ram TRX launched from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. At the time, the head of Ram, Tim Kuniskis, said it was not the end of the mighty truck.

"The introduction of the Ram 1500 TRX ushered in a significant shift in off-road performance trucks with a halo effect that will last for years to come,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO - Stellantis. “This current chapter in Ram’s high-performance trucks is coming to a close, but it’s not the end of TRX’s story. While we’ll have more news to come at a later date, we’re proud to offer our loyal performance enthusiasts the very special TRX 6.2L Supercharged V8 - Final Edition.”

You will notice that the new video promising a huge announcement on January 1, 2026, has Apex in the title.

Will the new 2026 Ram 1500 TRX be even more powerful? Tim Kuniskis is the head of Stellantis’ North American operations now and the TRX is coming back. Ram has not released any details about the performance of a new TRX.  I would expect that engineers will find a way to boost the performance from the supercharged 6.2L HEMI, perhaps even giving it Hellcat performance of at least 710 horsepower. Knowing Tim Kuniskis, when the TRX returns it will be even more spectacular.

I can’t wait to see what the announcement is and of course, we’ll have all the details here!
