Car and Driver is one of the most respected names in car and truck reviews. Being named to its 10Best Vehicles list is a huge honor. Being named to the 10Best list five years in a row is remarkable. Car and Driver has indeed named the 2023 Ram 1500 to its 10Best Vehicles list for the fifth consecutive year.
Car and Driver’s 10Best Vehicles List
Car and Driver evaluates each contender versus its peers using a 100-point scale, basing each score on intended purpose, value and vehicle operation. To make the list, each vehicle must deliver on its intended purpose better than its competition, offer great value and be entertaining to drive. Vehicles that are new or significantly changed were invited to compete. Previous winners were invited to defend their crowns. Both the 2023 Ram 1500 Limited and Ram 1500 TRX were submitted for evaluation. The award applies to the entire Ram 1500 lineup.
Interestingly, Car and Driver does not consider any truck, SUV or van with a base price higher than $110,000. Editors say that any vehicle priced that high price should be excellent.

Its coil-spring rear suspension provides luxury-SUV-like ride quality, making the bouncy competition feel like farm trucks,” said Joey Capparella, senior editor, Car and Driver. “The Ram’s interior is its most impressive and delightful attribute featuring carefully selected materials, including leather, metal trim, open-pore wood and the kind of attention to detail we’d expect from a luxury sedan.”
For the fifth consecutive time, Car and Driver combined 10Best Cars and 10Best Trucks and SUVs into a single list. This year, Car and Driver editors scrutinized more than 55 cars, trucks, SUVs and vans. The list of 10Best for 2023 appears in the magazine's February/March issue.
2023 Ram 1500
Ram totally revamped its Ram 1500 lineup back in 2019 adding more luxury to the interior. Some noted that the Ram 1500 had been transformed into a “Ritz Carlton on Wheels.” The redesign of the Ram, with more quality leather and wood trim, forced the other automakers to follow suit and really up their luxury quotient. The Ram 1500’s 12-inch infotainment touchscreen also set the bar for making vehicles’ infotainment systems easier to manage.
The redesign of the Ram created more interior room. The designers created more head room for passengers, more leg room for back seat passengers and more cargo space. They also created in-floor storage bins for cargo and have continued to innovate the RamBox storage in the truck bed. Competitors have also upgraded over the years but often at higher prices. Ram has become the most awarded pickup in recent years. The vehicle will need that extra storage space to carry home yet another 10Best Award.
