Elon Musk To Do a Company Talk for SpaceX and Tesla Soon: What He Will Share

Elon Musk is going to do a company talk about SpaceX and Tesla as soon as next week for SpaceX and after Tesla files their 10-K for the fiscal year, 2023. These will be publicly posted to SpaceX and Tesla on X and should take place soon.

Elon Musk - Company Talk on SpaceX and Tesla

Elon Musk is planning to do a company talk for Tesla and SpaceX. He had this to say about the announcement:

Next week, I will do a company talk for SpaceX, followed later by a company talk for Tesla after the 10K.

I will recap the talented team’s amazing accomplishments of 2023 and describe exciting plans for 2024 and beyond!

As for when this will be, Sawyer Merritt offered some clarification on when we can expect this to happen:

For those in the comments that are curious, Tesla filed their 10-K for fiscal year 2022 on January 30, 2023. So, we can expect Tesla to file their fiscal year 2023 10-K around the same period next year.

If these dates hold true, expect to see a talk about SpaceX in the first week of January 2024, and a talk about Tesla sometime in the first week of February 2024.

I'm really looking forward to these talks by Elon Musk and appreciate his transparency and willingness to share his vision and thoughts about his companies. He is a very active CEO.

During the Model 3 ramp in 2018-2019, he personally helped and was sleeping in the factory to help ensure the success of the Model 3 ramp.

What Will He Share?

Elon Musk will likely share the following in regard to Tesla:

Existing Auto Business

Elon Musk will talk about the existing vehicles, which include:

  • Model S/X
  • Model 3 Highland
  • Model Y Juniper (coming in 2024)
  • Cybertruck ramp

The Model S and X are going to become a smaller and smaller part of Tesla's business - even though Model X demand appears to be increasing. They are great cars, however, they are expensive and out of reach for most people.

The Model 3 Highland should be coming to the U.S. in 2024, and I think Elon Musk will share when he thinks the U.S. will get the latest refreshed Model 3.

He will also mention the Model Y refresh, that should happen sometime in 2024, which is code-named "Juniper". I'm hoping Elon Musk shares any new batteries this vehicle will be using for standard and long range.

Lastly, I expect Elon Musk to talk about the Cybertruck production ramp and how difficult it's going to be and that it will take 12 to 18 months to reach 250,000 vehicles per year. I still think Tesla is sandbagging Tesla Cybertruck production at Giga Texas - meaning, Tesla is making more progress than they said they would.

Progress on FSD V12

Some videos of Tesla FSD V12 were leaked recently, showing the "nothing but nets" software in action.

Those videos can be viewed here, and it appears to be a bit better than before, however, we aren't ready for robotaxis just quite yet.

I expect Elon to talk about this and where he thinks it's going to go over the coming years.

Compact Car

Elon Musk should talk about the next generation compact car. I'm hoping he shares what he thinks it will cost to make and what Tesla will sell it for, as well as when we should roughly expect first deliveries.

I don't think Elon will give an exact date, but hopefully we get an estimated timeline. The reason for this is so that Model 3 and Model Y sales aren't cannibalized by those waiting for the compact car.

Gigafactory India Announcement

Recently, there was word that Elon Musk is visiting a summit in India and that he will make an announcement early next year about a new Gigafactory in India.

I expect him to say something about this and if he doesn't, I hope someone is able to answer this in a Q & A session after his Tesla company talk.

Tesla Energy Updates

I think Elon Musk will talk about Tesla energy and how the business is doing well and continuing to ramp Lathrop for the Megapack. I think he will say Lathrop will be ramped by the end of 2024 and Giga Shanghai will start production late next year and be fully ramped by the end of 2025.

Furthermore, I also expect him to talk about new locations to build the Megapack besides Lathrop and Giga Shanghai.

Tesla Bot Updates

Tesla Bot recently was in the news with new advancement in tactile sensors on its hands and improve walking speed. The Tesla Bot will be an important part of Tesla's future and Tesla entering a technological "singularity". I think this means Tesla will be run by mostly bots and AI.

I expect Elon Musk to talk about this and estimate when he thinks someone will be able to buy a Tesla Bot for beta purposes.
