While a road test is a must before buying a new vehicle of any make, some issues do not arise until later that might have been a deal breaker for you had you known it existed, as pointed out in a recent Reddit r/Camry interest group forum that led to a litany of shared complaints about the 2025 Toyota Camry.

Annoying Problems With the 2025 Toyota Camry

2025 Toyota Camry Complaints List

Here are five car issue standouts that multiple 2025 model Toyota Camry owners testify that they found not just annoying but enough to cause one owner to get his money back and wait for next year's Camry model.

1. Toyota PDA is Rough―Proactive Drive Assist helps drivers by gently braking or steering to avoid other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists and also assists in navigating curves.

PDA does take some getting used to and can be mistaken for braking issues when the hybrid model switches from gas to EV mode, with a slight bogging down feel as the vehicle engages the regenerative braking system. However, according to other posts in the thread, the PDA appears to need some finesse.

The PDA drives me nuts cuz someone will switch lanes in front of me and it'll jam the brakes to the floor." ―Jjk3509

The automatic braking can be a bit either too aggressive or a bit too slow to react...feels very.... Inhuman." ―Inferno2727

The fix: Go to settings and turn this feature off if you find it interferes with your driving.

2. Paint Chipping IssuesToyota Nation website reports multiple paint issues on the 2025 Camry models that appear to be due to small bubbles rising beneath the paint, eventually resulting in flaking. However, there might also be a paint quality issue regarding the durability of the paint used.

The paint quality is pretty bad, just leaning against it, brushing grocery bags on the trunk lid, all causes deep scratches and scuffs.

I don't do much highway driving, always maintain a 3 car distance, but rock chips litter the hood and bumper.

I also got the underground color so that might be a weak paint. White and silver are best. Otherwise the car is perfect for what it is." ―Southern_Mood_699

Got 3 rock chips from hwy driving already. Putting that touch up paint to good use. I dread washing my car every time." ―coolblue123

Dude I thought I was going crazy. Even I have a bunch of dings in front mine too and this paint seems to get scratched super easy." ―yeuosu

Other posts on Toyota Nation report chipping during shipping that owners missed seeing when buying; A thorough examination before buying is recommended.

3. Interior is Kia-Like―In short, one forum comment complaint is the typical one we hear about in most new cars being too plasticky with unapologetic gapping. "Most of the interior feels like you could easily tear it apart with your bare hands, and l don't see it holding up for 20 years like my old one did."

Interior is more stereotypical Kia than stereotypical Toyota. So many disconnected and/or wiggly pieces, many of which don't fit flush. The latch to the center console drives me insane, it doesn't fully shut so it moves up and down/side to side. The latch and interior, just like everything else, is made of the thinnest plastic. Oh, and the gaps gaps between the (plastic) vertical piece that connects the upper and lower sections of the exterior portion of the door." ―WhoAccountNewDis

4. Seat Lumbar Support Sucks―If any level of comfort is essential to you while you drive, nothing kills a deal with a car buyer quicker than discovering that the seat lumbar support sucks. An earlier forum thread about the problem likens it to having a 2-liter plastic bottle behind your back.

Overall, I'm loving my new 25 Camry. One thing I've noticed that does bug the heck out of me is a weird sensation in the mid-back of the drivers seat with quick stops/acceleration.

It's hard to describe, but about 40% of the time with abrupt stops or acceleration, I feel like something from inside the seat is hitting my back (middle back). Sometimes it feels like a loose part banging against my back, other times it's almost like an air bubble inside the seat is shifting." ―kmmx88

The tech at the dealership said this is a common issue they're seeing, not just with Camrys. Mine feels like a plastic bottle compressing." ―WhoAccountNewDis

5. Bumper Threatening to Fall Off―Bumper attachment issues failing to be fixed by a dealership after multiple attempts led one 2025 Camry owner to use the Lemon Law to get his money back.

Reported the issue in my first 200 miles…Clips not holding the bumper causing the bumper to be misaligned, and screws backing out…I replaced the bumper 3 times, got new clips 4 times…submitted a lemon lawsuit and got them to agree to buy back the car…I plan on getting my money and getting a 2026." ―Tturaider28

My 2025 Camry XSE Hybrid is pure terrible. Technology reeks. Have to set my phone up every time I get in. Does not get 50 miles to a gallon. One year 10000 miles. 37.3 miles per gallon. My GR86 32 6 speed manual. Never a Toyota again.
