A Tesla Cybertruck Owner Shares a Kitten Got Stuck Behind His Truck’s Battery – Adds “I Had To Pay Tesla Service $265 ‘Diagnostic Fee’ to Get the Kitten Out”

A Cybertruck owner was surprised when he heard a kitten meowing inside his truck. Unable to find the source of the sound, he took his truck to Tesla Service, who charged him a $265 diagnostic fee to remove the kitten.

Brian, a Tesla Cybertruck owner from East Bay, California, was surprised to hear meowing when he entered his garage.

Since Brian doesn’t have a cat, this was mildly surprising. However, things became more interesting when he noticed that the sound was coming from his Cybertruck.

However, despite searching everywhere, Brian couldn’t find exactly where the cat was located on his Cybertruck.

Trying to get better visibility, Brian drove his Cybertruck outside and activated “Extract Mode," the highest suspension setting that provides the Cybertruck with 16 inches of ground clearance.

Despite the increased suspension height and driving his Cybertruck outside, Brian still wasn’t able to locate the kitten. However, the kitten continued to meow even more insistently.

Concerned about the situation, Brian took his Cybertruck to a Tesla service center. Initially, the Tesla service technician tried to send him away, stating there was nothing they could do and advised him to contact animal control.

However, Brian countered by asking if animal control would be able to disassemble his Cybertruck to locate the cat.

At that point, the Tesla service technician relented and decided to look around and retrieve the cat. However, Tesla also required Brian to pay a “diagnostic fee” of $265 to search for the cat.

After 30 minutes, Tesla service techs were able to find a week-old kitten stuck behind the battery of the Cybertruck.

Amused by all that transpired, Brian shared his experience on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.

He writes…

This morning, I went to my garage and heard meowing, which was strange because I don't have a cat. It sounded like it was coming from my truck, but I couldn't see anything there.

I pulled my Cybertruck out of the garage and put it in extract mode, but I couldn't see the cat anywhere, even though it was meowing like crazy.

So I decided to visit Tesla in Dublin to see what they could do. The service center at Amador Plaza is closed on weekends, but it's open at Houston Place in Dublin.

I went in, and the service advisor's first reaction was that they couldn't do anything and that I should call animal control.

I asked if animal control was going to take apart my Cybertruck. So he went and talked to one of the Cybertruck techs and he agreed to give it a try for the diagnostic fee of $265.

So I agreed and in about 30 minutes he had the cat out. It was about 1 week old and was hiding behind the battery.

He mentioned that there's plenty of space behind the Cybertruck battery, so he wasn't surprised that the kitten got stuck there.

Finally, Brian concluded his post sharing a warning to fellow Cybertruck owners.

He writes…

"Just a heads up: if you have any pregnant cats around, be careful. It seems cats can easily get behind the Cybertruck battery."

Under his post, Brian shared a video of his Cybertruck. He recorded the sound of a kitten meowing from inside the vehicle; however, despite searching everywhere with his camera flashlight on, he wasn’t able to locate the kitten.

A stuck kitten behind a Cybertruck battery is certainly not ideal; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners shared other instances where a cat was similarly stuck inside the all-electric truck.

A fellow Cybertruck owner Gus says…

“Seems to be a recurring problem. Should we complain to NHTSA? 🤔”

In the comments, Gus posts another video featuring a cat trapped inside a Cybertruck. This time, the cat is caught in the back section of the Cybertruck where the tonneau cover rolls up and is stored, while in Brian’s situation, the kitten was trapped in the front, behind the battery.

Overall, looking at the comments, some Cybertruck owners were concerned that they might find themselves in a similar situation. However, as one Cybertruck owner puts it, "There is nothing to do; cats find a way.”
