Amadeus Oreshkin, a Cybertruck owner from Seattle, Washington, reports that the stainless steel on his truck was damaged after his dog drooled on it.

He states that his Cybertruck is brand new, only a week old, and his dog’s drool left a stain that couldn’t be easily cleaned.

As a result, Amadeus attempted to remove the stain with chrome polish/rust remover, but this only made things worse. The Turtle Wax Chrome Polish he used ended up damaging the stainless steel even more.

The chemicals stripped the outer layer of the stainless steel, causing the cleaned area — the rear driver-side door panels — to look different from the rest of the vehicle.

Now, the truck has an uneven, blotchy surface finish.

A Cybertruck owner claims that his dog drooled on his truck and ended up leaving a permanent stain on the stainless steel exterior. However, when the owner attempted to clean the stain with Turtle Wax Chrome Polish, the situation got even worse.

This is definitely not ideal, and the frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Tesla Cybertruck Owners group on Facebook.

He wrote…

“Hi Cybertruck Owners. I bought a Cybertruck last week, and my dog drooled on the door. I couldn't remove the stain, and it left a mark on the surface.

I should have used alcohol, but I made a big mistake and used Turtle Wax Chrome Polish Metal Cleaner. Now, the back door has streaks and a different fade and color compared to the rest of the panels.

Do I need to get it sanded, or will it fix itself over time due to steel oxidation? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!”

Below his post, Amadeus shared several pictures. The first two pictures show the stainless steel after applying chrome cleaner/rust remover.

As you can see, the stainless steel on the rear passenger-side door is noticeably discolored compared to the rest of the vehicle.

Amadeus also included a picture of the bottle of Turtle Wax Chrome Polish & Rust Remover he used.

A dog's drool staining the Cybertruck’s stainless steel, then the cleaning product causing further damage, is certainly not ideal. However, this is not the first instance of the Cybertruck’s stainless steel reportedly getting easily damaged.

A few weeks ago, we reported about a Cybertruck owner who shared that he parked under a tree, and the tree sap permanently stained the truck’s stainless steel.

In that instance, the tree sap left a much more severe damage in the form of multiple dark streaks that don’t seem to wash out using conventional cleaning methods.

Going back to Amadeus’s case, he seems stressed about potentially damaging the appearance of his one-week-old truck.

However, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners downplayed his concern and suggested several ways to restore his truck.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Felix Sweetman, wrote…

"It’s a truck… work truck

It’s not supposed to look pretty."

Another Cyberruck owner, Nate Hall, added…

"It's fine, just get a bunch of microfiber cloths, use Bar Keepers Friend, and then spray it with Sprayway."

Streaks will come out; just keep the cloth clean and dry."

A third Cybertruck owner, Luke Sanchez, suggested…

"Try cleaning it a few times with distilled water and Dawn dish soap. Don’t use regular water; it can leave mineral stains."

A fourth Cybertruck owner, Jesse Gomez, recommended…

"Just polish it with a buffer or pad on low speed using Bar Keepers Friend."

A fifth Cybertruck owner, Bran Done, advised…

"Bar Keepers Friend should do the trick. Take your time, be consistent with your pattern, and watch a YouTube tutorial first."

A 6th Cybertruck owner, Jake Walski, disagrees with the above recommendation, writing…

"Don’t use Bar Keepers Friend. Try a good car wash first. Then consider Citrusurf77 to clean and passivate the steel."

A seventh Cybertruck owner, Simon Aman, recommends…

"Use Clorox wipes—they work great."

Overall, Cybertruck owners seem to have a lot of ideas on how to restore Amadeus’s truck. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.
