Houssem Ben Ayed, a Tesla software engineer at the Berlin factory, says he was recently let go after posting a negative comment about Elon Musk on X.
Houssem, who goes by the username “@crypt0x_0,” wrote a few weeks ago…
“Can some of you stop *sucking up* to Elon Musk so much? Grow up, he won't make you pregnant anytime soon.”
Houssem’s comment really caught people's attention on X, especially a reply from a Tesla fan saying, “delete this before you get fired,” which has now been viewed over 1.5 million times.
This was on July 30, and fast-forward a few weeks, and yesterday, Houssem revealed to the world that he has been fired from Tesla.
He shared the development writing…
“I actually got fired from Tesla.
Well, the good news is that I'm open to opportunities again.
At Tesla, I was working on computer vision and reinforcement learning.
What I'm good at:
- Machine learning (PyTorch, JAX...)
- RL (GRO, on VLAs and LLMs)
- Computer vision (OpenCV and 20 other closed-source programs, all rewritten by me)
- Python
- Zig
- TS/JS
- Rust
- Backend development
I'm also open to anything interesting and confident that I can join any project and start contributing within a day.
I can work in Germany (in-person or remote) or remotely.
Fun fact: In Tunisia, before I took the job at Tesla, I was earning more (before and after taxes) than here in Germany—I just wanted to work on really cool stuff at Tesla.”
Below his post, Houssem shared a picture of his termination letter, which reads…
“Termination of your employment
We hereby terminate the employment relationship with you during the probationary period with due notice as of 7.10.2025 and, as a precautionary measure, as of the next permissible date.
The works council was duly consulted on the termination.
We request that you return all company property still in your possession to us in Grünheide on your last day of work.
We regret having to take this step. We wish you all the best for your future career and life.”
This is definitely a swift act on Tesla’s part, and Houssem gives more context about the termination.
Houssem mentions he was hired by Tesla two years ago and was fired two weeks before completing his probation period, just as he was about to receive a promotion.
He claims Tesla did not provide a reason for his dismissal, but he cannot think of any cause besides the X post, especially since he received an “excellent” rating on his most recent performance review.
He continues to write…
“I had two weeks left until my probation ended.
No warning, no one-on-ones, no communication. I found a termination letter at my doorstep, informing me that all my access had been revoked, including my badge.
I'm not sure if it was that post (or any other), but I received an excellent performance review and was set up for a promotion!
My manager and HR refused to give a reason (which they can because I’m still on probation).
Although I started interviewing for remote roles last week because my manager stopped looking me in the eyes and was acting really weird.
However, I also wanted to return to Tunisia to support my family during a particularly difficult time.”
From the evidence he provided, Houssem appears to have been fired for his social media post criticizing Elon Musk.
However, looking at the comments, a lot of Tesla fans supported his dismissal.
A Tesla fan, Klos, writes…
“Why did you expect not to get fired after posting vulgar comments about the company owner on his platform? Any doubt about why it happened? It's like being invited to a party and writing "the host sucks" on the wall.”
Another Tesla fan writes…
“Why would you post that about your boss? Ever, at any company?”
A third Tesla fan, Sage Williams, writes…
“I can't think of any job where they'd not fire you for saying something like that about the boss.”
A fourth Tesla fan, Felix Zaslavskiy, writes…
“The reason for your firing seems obvious.”
Overall, looking at the comments, Tesla fans appear to support Houssem’s termination. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.

The timing of events in this story seems incorrect. It states that the negative post on X was done on July 30. However, the termination letter is dated July 10. Either the timing of the post is incorrect (or they are using a date after the post for which it received 1.5 million views), or the date on the letter is not accurate. If all the timing stated is correct, then the person that got fired may have been terminated for work performance reasons. Regardless, probably not a good idea to write negative comments on X (a platform your boss owns) about the leader of the company you work for (Tesla). I would not want to be an unemployed software developer in this time when most companies are reducing their numbers.

Don’t disagree with your post on X, but yes it is public and I’m sure you could have predicted what would happen. Good luck, with your skill set, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Dont really understand why anyone would want to work at telsa. They cant even build cars right and people getting killed crashing into trees. Your first mistake was getting a job at telsa. They were never going to promote you. They were going to use you before the 2yrs were up and get someone cheaper. That is what they do. I know some workers at the Fremont plant building them and they dont even know how to do an oil change. You people are driving these death traps. No door handles when the power dies thats crazy.
