What does it mean for new car shoppers?

The 2021 Brand Image Awards are based on consumer automotive perception data from Kelley Blue Book's Brand Watch report. Brand Watch is an online brand and model perception tracking study tapping into 12,000 plus in-market new-vehicle shoppers annually on Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com.

KBB recognizes automakers' achievements in creating and maintaining brand attributes that capture the new-vehicle buying public's attention and enthusiasm.

Subaru has done a masterful job of reaching people from every demographic by connecting with animal lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, senior adults, and the gay community through its dealer network, giving people an opportunity to pump dollars into their communities. They also have the Subaru Motorsports program that connects the automaker with performance and race car enthusiasts.

Subaru created a brand identity that resonates with consumers beyond the dealer showroom and their automobiles. Tom Doll, Subaru's COO for Subaru of America, told Bloomberg that sales took off when they "stopped acting like a car company." This was when the automaker started the "Love "campaign sales ads.

Subaru picks up three new awards in the 2021 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards. Even during a global pandemic, Subaru of America sells 2021 Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and Ascent vehicles at near-record levels.
