3 New Subaru 2.4L Turbo Black Editions You Want In Your Garage Next Year

Will Subaru have a 2023 Subaru Forester Black Edition? Check out three new Black Editions with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that Subaru should offer customers next year.

Do you remember the 2018 Subaru Forester Black Edition? Subaru offered it in the U.S. for a short time with the Forester 2.0XT turbocharged engine trim level. Consumers could get the Forester 2.0XT Black Edition in four exterior colors: Crystal Black Silica, Dark Gray Metallic, Crystal White Pearl, and Ice Silver Metallic.

Outside, the Black Edition package featured 18-inch black alloy wheels, fog lights with black accent trim; black finish exterior badges and mirrors; and a front grille with a blacked-out wing motif and chrome frame. New LED Steering Responsive Headlights are also included as standard.

Inside, the Forester 2.0XT Black Edition came with steering wheel paddle shifters with a 6-speed manual mode. It came with special black cloth upholstery seats with simulated leather bolsters and silver metallic and black gloss finish center dash panel.

Customers would buy a 2023 Forester Black Edition with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine. This would tell customers that the new Forester is the flagship model and give performance fans back the Forester turbo they took away after 2018.

Would customers buy a 2023 Outback Black Edition? We think they would if it offered the same treatments outside and inside. Subaru could offer the Outback Black Edition on the new Outback Onyx Edition trim level with the new styling upgrades.

The Outback is Subaru of America’s second best-selling model and could use a shot in the arm. A new Black Edition would add further excitement to the midsize SUV.

2023 Subaru BRZ Black Edition
Subaru should offer customers a 2023 BRZ 2.4L Turbo Black Edition

Would customers buy a 2023 BRZ Black Edition? What if Subaru offered it with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine upgrade? With a new turbocharged engine under the hood of the rear-drive sports coupe, the BRZ 2.4 Black Edition would sell out quickly.

The 2023 Subaru Forester Black Edition with a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine would be the hottest model in the lineup that would excite customers. Subaru of America should offer its customers three new Black Edition models. It would create new excitement around the Japanese automaker.

Onyx literally means black. Therefore, the 2023 Outback Onyx Edition XT is the Black Edition you say they should make. You can spec one out on the Subaru site right now in all it's 2.4T glory.

I do agree that the Forester needs an Onyx Edition XT in it's trim line. As well as the Wilderness Edition getting the 2.4T the XT gets, and they should add the XT as an option for the Limited and Touring Foresters, same as the OBs have now.
I have a 22 OB Onyx XT and I love it. I'd also like to see the 2.4T available for the Crosstrek Wilderness some day. Would be wicked.

Your article is slightly inaccurate. The 2018 Forester Black Edition was only equipped with the 2.5l non-turbo engine and the paddle shifters simulated a 7-speed transmission. As well, with the 2023 Outback, the Onyx Edition is a blacked out look, has paddle shifters that simulate 8-speeds and is available with either a 2.5l non-turbo or the 2.4l turbo. And, with the BRZ, a black edition would be very desirable, fitting it with a turbo is not something Subaru has in the cards, as it would put it in competition with the WRX and changes the complete driving dynamics of what is an exceptional driving vehicle.

Guaranteed there won't be because Subaru banned the 'Black Edition' back in 2019 because people told them it is racist to call anything a black edition. True story. However, you might see an Onyx Edition.

I agree 100 percent. Especially with the BRZ 2.4 turbo. I own a 2018 STI, considered and liked the BRZ, but ultimately passed on it because no turbo. When or if they boost the BRZ I'll be first inline.
