The EPA posted the latest fuel mileage information on the 2023 Subaru Forester before Subaru of America announced the new model change. The data reveals no fuel mileage change for the 2023 Forester compact SUV and no upgrades in the engine for the standard model or the rugged 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness trim level.
The information also indicates the 2023 Forester will still be powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine. It also reveals that the 2023 Forester Wilderness will come with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine like the standard models. The Forester's 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine still produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. Both models are coupled with a Lineartronic CVT automatic (Continuously Variable Transmission).

What is the fuel mileage of the 2023 Subaru Forester?
The 2023 Subaru Forester compact SUV comes with standard all-wheel drive and gets an EPA estimated 29 combined mpg and 26/33 city/highway mpg. The 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness gets 26 combined mpg and 25/28 city/highway mpg.

I was lucky enough to sample this special Subaru in its 22 model year version. The current Wilderness returned the same or better MPG as my '16 Forester 2.5i Premium on my adventures on pavement and off. I'm a geek about recording mileage, and I was very impressed that it did so well. Fantastic vehicle.
