One of the hottest vehicles on the market is a Lunar Rock 2021 4Runner TRD Pro.
Other TRD Pro colors like Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic are also in high demand.
Not nearly as much as Lunar Rock, though.
2021 4Runner vs 2022
As the 2021 Toyota model year nears its final half of production, Toyota will begin turning its attention to producing new 2022 models. This is normally a staggered process, with many popular models released in entirely different months (2022 Camry could come out in June or Tacoma in September or 4Runner in November, as hypothetical examples).
This uncertainly really affects Toyota 4Runner buyers. Without knowing when production will end for 2021 4Runner and roll into 2022 4Runner, people have no clue if they will get their 2021 TRD Pro orders fulfilled.
Or whether they will miss out completely.
People comment on 2021 4Runner TRD Pro
I have been getting more and more emails and comments and messages lately from people all over the country asking if they have any chance of landing their prized possession – 2021 4Runner TRD Pro Lunar Rock.
Here is a sampling.
“I just looked at another (TRD Pro Lunar Rock) just now and the salesman said “we ‘only’ want 10k over…geez no thanks.”
“Is there any chance I can get 4Runner TRD Pro Lunar Rock before they are gone?”
“Do you think I have any hope for getting 2021 TRD Pro or should I just wait for 2022?”

“Just put a deposit on TRD Pro Lunar Rock. My dealer said it prob wouldn’t be a 2021 and they will get me a 2022.”
And the problem with that last comment is that nobody knows for sure what the new unique 2022 TRD Pro color will be. Lunar Rock will be gone and replaced by a different color altogether. It could be black cherry, yellow, purple, teal or maybe citrus lime green.
What if this person does not care for the color that dealer gets them? The plot just got really thick, right?
What makes this situation so interesting and murky is that no details have been released about 2022 4Runner.
I have heard three different rumors in the last month about a Toyota 4Runner redesign. 1) 4Runner will be redesigned for 2022 model year. 2) 4Runner will be redesigned for 2023 model year. 3) 4Runner will be redesigned for 2025 model year (this one came from a competing manufacturer).
Toyota is one of the most secretive companies on the planet. Typically, the public will not know about new model or redesign details until Toyota is ready for us to hear about it.
In this case, it would be helpful to give potential purchasers peace of mind they can still safely order their 2021 4Runner TRD Pro without worry.
The fact is, we think we are still good. But we do not know for sure.
