Subaru's New Future Product Updates And What's In The Pipeline

Subaru has new updates coming to its all-wheel-drive lineup, and here is a complete update on Subaru of America’s future product pipeline. Some information is from a recent Automotive News (by subscription) list.

Customers want to know when the next-generation Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent, and other Subaru all-wheel-drive models will be available. Here is the complete U.S. Subaru lineup and its future product updates.

Subaru SUVs

Subaru Crosstrek

The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is almost here. Subaru Corporation will reveal the all-new Crosstrek subcompact SUV this week on September 15.

The Crosstrek subcompact crossover received upgrades in 2021 and would have been due for a redesign for the 2023 model year, but global supply interruptions have pushed that into the 2024 model year. The Crosstrek is expected to add a new Wilderness trim sometime after the new models arrive. Stay tuned to Torque News for the announcement this week.

Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester is also due for a complete remodel. The Forester compact SUV added a Wilderness trim in 2022 and is expected to be redesigned in the second half of 2023 and be available as a 2024 model. Customers may want to wait for the 2024 Subaru Forester models to come with the exterior, interior, and possible engine upgrades. The announcement is about a year away.

Subaru Outback

The 2023 Outback midsize SUV received a styling update and upgraded driver assistance, safety, and infotainment for its mid-cycle refresh. The 2023 models will arrive this fall in U.S. showrooms. The next-generation Subaru Outback is two years away and will get a complete remodel in 2025 models.

Subaru Ascent

The 2023 Ascent 3-Row SUV received new exterior upgrades and the addition of the Onyx Edition Limited trim, as well as interior and safety improvements. The 2023 models will arrive this fall in U.S. showrooms. The next-generation Subaru Ascent is at least two years away and is scheduled to get a complete remodel in the 2025 model year.

Subaru Solterra

The 2023 Solterra, Subaru’s first all-electric model, was scheduled to arrive in June but has been delayed due to a recall of all models due to wheels that could become loose. The arrival of the all-new electric Solterra compact SUV is now uncertain as Toyota tries to solve the recall issue affecting the Solterra and bZ4X. Stay tuned.

Subaru Impreza

The redesign of the Subaru Impreza compact sedan and hatchback models has also been pushed back because of global supply interruptions. The 2023 models arrive with no changes this fall. The 2024 Impreza will receive a complete remodel and interior, exterior, and safety upgrades. The next-generation Impreza will be delayed until late next year.

Subaru Legacy

The 2023 Legacy midsize sedan received styling updates and upgraded driver assistance, safety, and infotainment for its mid-cycle refresh. The Sport trim gets a new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine upgrade. The 2023 models will arrive this fall in U.S. showrooms. The next-generation Subaru Legacy is two years away and will get a complete remodel in 2025 models.

Subaru Performance

Subaru BRZ

The rear-drive Subaru BRZ sport coupe was redesigned for the 2022 model year, featuring a new, larger naturally aspirated 2.4-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine with 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque that replaced the 2.0-liter, along with exterior changes and new safety technology.

Subaru Corporation is expected to give the BRZ a refresh for the 2025 or 2026 model year. The next-generation BRZ won’t arrive until at least 2027 or later.

Subaru WRX

The sport-tuned 2022 Subaru WRX performance sedan received a complete remodel with new exterior styling, a new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, and rides on Subaru’s new modular platform. Subaru dropped the WRX STI from the global lineup and is expected to bring the performance-tuned all-electric STI later in the decade. The WRX will receive a refresh in 2026. The next generation WRX will be pushed out until 2028 or 2029.
