Subaru XV Crosstrek in Desert Khaki wins Color Grand Prix

The all-new 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek has won another award and this time it’s for an exterior color that is exclusive to Subaru XV.

The 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek has won another award, and this time it’s for its "Desert Khaki" exterior color that is exclusive to Subaru XV. No other manufacturer has a color like it and it fits perfectly with the new “go anywhere” attitude of the new XV Crosstrek. Subaru announced that the XV in Desert Khaki has won the Grand Prix in Auto Color Award 2013 held by Japan Fashion Color Association.

The Japan Fashion Color Association is an organization that is a basic source of information in all areas of fashion color that “realize the rich colors of life for consumers.” In choosing the Grand Prix of Color award, the judges picked the Subaru XV Crosstrek "Desert Khaki" because it created a three-dimensional rich look that matches the character of the new crossover. “It’s a car color that is fresh and has never been seen in the age of the car until now.”

Quite a different character

The new Desert Khaki color definitely fits the character of the 2013 XV Crosstrek. The five-door crossover is based on the Subaru Impreza hatchback, but comes with an expanded capability chassis with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, 17-inch alloy wheels, larger front brakes, a larger fuel tank and special black wheel arch and rocker panel cladding. The XV Crosstrek features will allow the new crossover to be more rugged for those wanting a "go-anywhere" vehicle.

Other Exterior colors include Satin White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Tangerine Orange Pearl, Venetian Red Pearl, Marine Blue Pearl, Dark Grey Metallic, and Crystal Black Silica. Interior colors feature Ivory Leather, Black Leather, Ivory Cloth, and Black Cloth.

Piling up the awards

The all-new 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek was only launched recently and it’s already received three other awards from the media. It was just named ‘SUV of the Year’ by UK’s 4x4 Magazine who is praising the new crossover for its fuel economy, enjoyable driving characteristics and ground clearance. In October, the new crossover won the "Good Design Award 2012" from the Japan Industrial Design Promotion (JDP).

The all-new Subaru Crosstrek was also awarded the IIHS 2012 Top Safety Pick. The five-door sporty XV earned a “good” rating which is the the top rank a vehicle can receive. Cars must pass the test in the moderate overlap frontal, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations from IIHS. With the XV Crosstrek awarded the IIHS 2012 Top Safety Pick, Subaru is the only manufacturer with Top Safety Picks for its entire lineup.

The new 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek in Desert Khaki certainly fits Subaru’s appeal point of the cars ability to tame the “urban adventure,” but it also provides a high function in the outdoors. The all-new XV is appealing to a young active lifestyle that includes the urban lifestyle during the week and off-road pursuits on the weekend.
