If you buy a 2020 Honda Odyssey family hauler, you will pay less to insure the minivan than all other cars in America. According to a recent study by Insure, the Odyssey is #1 on their least expensive car to insure list. In addition to the Odyssey, Honda has three other vehicles on the list with the HR-V, CR-V and Fit Lx on the list.
Insure.com pulled insurance quotes from six major insurance companies and averaged the premiums to find out what it costs to insure the car you may be thinking of buying. The Honda Odyssey LX is the least expensive car in America to insure at $1,298 per year average, and the Jeep Wrangler Sport surprisingly is second on the list at $1,304 and Subaru Outback comes in at number 3.

The Honda HR-V LX, another popular vehicle for the brand comes in at $1,325/year. The number two selling compact Honda CR-V LX crossover costs $1,333 per year to insure. Why is a Honda cheaper to insure? Insure says vehicles like the Honda Odyssey are most often driven by families who tend to be safer drivers and “the car owner isn’t worried about exterior small scuffs and doesn’t make claims for minor items,” says Penny Gusner, Insure.com consumer analyst.

If you are thinking about buying a new Honda Odyssey, HR-V, CR-V, to Fit you might want to wait a year. Honda is bringing next-generation airbag technology for its customers starting next year. Honda announced last month they have designed and tested a new front passenger airbag that will keep you safer in the event of an accident.

Honda is not saying which of its cars will get it first, but we are speculating they will be the most popular models for families like the CR-V, Civic, Accord, Pilot, and Odyssey. Honda's new passenger-side airbag was co-developed with Swedish supplier Autoliv, and designed by Honda Research and Development at its safety research center in Raymond, Ohio.
Customers looking for the least expensive cars to insure will find the 2020 Honda Odyssey, new HR-V, Honda CR-V, and Fit LX on the top-twenty list. They are also getting safer.
