How Hot Is The New Subaru BRZ? It Was Just Crowned Sports Car Of The Year

Is the 2022 Subaru BRZ the best new sports car around the globe? It was just crowned sports car of the year.

Subaru's redesigned 2022 BRZ gets a major global award and has just been crowned Motor's 2022 Sports Car of the Year (SCOTY) in Australia. The BRZ was also recently nominated as one of the top-three sports cars in the world by World Car of the Year (WCOTY). And the previous generation Subaru BRZ won Motor's Most Fun Car in 2017.

Car and Driver recently announced the 2022 BRZ is their top pick as the best affordable sports car of 2022.

What sets the next-generation BRZ apart from other new sports cars? The SCOTY judges can’t say enough good things about the new sports coupe.

"I'm still stunned that a sports coupe is this much fun and capable and affordable. Buy one. The Subaru BRZ aces the SCOTY 2022 criteria. Nothing else is as engaging or as rewarding. The new 2.4-liter engine transforms the Subaru BRZ. It's now more responsive but has retained its sense of fun." Andy Enright - Motor Editor.

"The Subaru BRZ is a car that celebrates the joy and spirit of driving. It feels alive on both road and track and is as engaging a sports car as you can buy right now at any price point. The benchmark for the BRZ was already high enough with the previous model being impressive, but the changes for this next generation result in a package that is more than the sum of its parts." Cameron Kirby - Motor Deputy Editor.

"The BRZ is amazing. It's all driver focus. It's an easy car to drive on the limit, but it rewards good driving." Warren Luff - Driver, Sports Car of the Year 2022.

The next-generation 2022 Subaru BRZ Premium trim with a 6-speed manual gearbox has a starting price of $28,955. BRZ Premium with an automatic transmission starts at $30,555. The Limited (6-speed manual) has a starting MSRP of $31,455. The Limited with an automatic transmission starts at $33,255. All pricing includes destination and delivery fees.
