Subaru Now Has 3 New Models That Are Sold Out For The Entire Year

Subaru now has three new models that are confirmed to be sold out for the entire year. Check out the details here.

The microchip shortages and supply chain issues have struck Subaru hard in 2022. Now three new Subaru models are sold out for the entire year. A source close to Subaru told us the 2022 Subaru Impreza is now the third new model to be sold out in 2022. The source told us Subaru of New England confirmed the Impreza is the latest model to join the 2022 BRZ and 2023 Solterra that will not be available the rest of the year.

2022 Subaru BRZ

The completely redesigned 2022 Subaru BRZ sports coupe was the first model which sold out in January. Because of its affordability and new design, the 2022 BRZ is a big success and has already sold out because the sports car met the initial allotment. Subaru of America has stopped 2022 BRZ orders, and a report from Kelly Blue Book says if you want a new BRZ, you'll have to wait a year.

2023 Subaru Solterra

The all-new electric 2023 Subaru Solterra online reservation system officially closed on February 28, 2022. A report from Planet Subaru said most Subaru of America's (SOA) retailers filled their reservations within a few days of the system going live. SOA gave Planet Subaru fifteen reservations, and customers took them within minutes of the system opening. They expect Subaru Corporation to produce fewer than 10,000 Solterra models for the entire calendar year 2022.

Subaru of America announced this week, "Within the first 72 hours of opening the reservation system, ready-to-purchase customers filled nearly all reservations for the 2023 Subaru Solterra."

Our source says the 2022 Subaru Impreza is now sold out for the entire year. Subaru of America reported they delivered 3,520 new compact sedan and hatchback models in February, up 30 percent from February 2021.

Subaru of New England, the Subaru distributorship for the six New England States, shows they have 307 2022 Impreza models available. Still, many are in transit from the Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant. When the current models ordered by U.S. retailers are delivered, SOA will stop all new orders if the source is correct.

The Impreza compact sedan and hatchback are not large volume nameplates. Subaru of America is likely using its limited supply of microchips for the higher volume 2022 Outback midsize SUV and 2022 Ascent 3-Row SUV manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana. Customers who want a 2022 Subaru Impreza should move quickly.

I sold Subarus for six years, and I owned two of them, and I love them, but I had to switch brands because they don't offer anything with actual towing capacity, or a real truck, or a real off-road model. I was also annoyed with increasing focus on tech gadgets/screens;apps instead of actual function and durability, although all mfrs are guilty of that.

I hope not. I have a 2022 Subaru Legacy Touring XT. I LOVE IT! The popularity of sedans have waned, but, I'll always have one as long as that segment is still around. It's sooo sweet. Thank you Subaru for continuing with the production of the midsized Legacy!
