Subaru Solterra Reservations Close Today - The New EV Is Already Sold Out This Year

When can you buy the new 2023 Subaru Soltarra EV? Reservations close today, and many customers will have to wait another year for the new all-electric model. Get the complete details here.

The all-new electric 2023 Subaru Solterra online reservation system officially closes today, February 28, 2022. Can you still get one of Subaru's first-ever all-electric compact SUVs? Subaru of America (SOA) opened the Solterra reservation system on February 8, 2022, for customers to put down a refundable $250 deposit. Subaru said the deposit does not guarantee a vehicle.

A new report from Planet Subaru says most Subaru of America's retailers filled their reservations within a few days of the system going live. SOA gave Planet Subaru fifteen reservations, and customers took them within minutes of the system opening.

Planet Subaru says, "We have more people on our waiting list, so we are sold out through the end of the 2022 calendar year. Although we can't speak with certainty for other retailers, at this point, we think the entirety of Subaru's production for the rest of the year is more or less committed to customers who have already raised their hands."

Can you still get the 2023 Subaru Solterra?

If you put in a reservation, it was first come, first served. If someone from the retailer you selected decides they want their deposit back and does not want to keep their place in line, the next person moves up. If you were one of the first to put in a reservation, you could still get a new Solterra EV.

How many Soltarra EVs will be available in the U.S.?

Planet Subaru says they expect Subaru Corporation to produce fewer than 10,000 Solterra models for the entire calendar year 2022. Subaru has to rely on Toyota, manufacturing the new Solterra and the bZ4X EV at the Toyota plant in Japan. A new report from Automotive News says Toyota has targeted just 60,000 bZ4X EVs worldwide in 2022, and then a decline to about 50,000 in 2023.

With demand outstripping the supply of the new 2023 Subaru Solterra, the new all-electric compact SUV will be one of the hardest to find new models well into 2023. Many customers will have to wait until 2023 to find a new model. Planet Subaru says they expect supplies of the Solterra to increase in 2023 when the 2024 models arrive.

What is the price of the 2023 Subaru Solterra?

Subaru has not released pricing on the Solterra, but the new EV will likely be priced around $40,000 for the base trim and could approach $50,000 for the fully-loaded Touring trim level. The 2023 Solterra is offered in three trim levels for U.S. customers. Check out our complete model and trim guide here.

When does the first 2023 Solterra arrive at Subaru of Americas' retailers?

Subaru's first-ever battery-electric vehicle should begin to arrive in U.S. showrooms this summer in June or July. The new Solterra is already sold out at most U.S. Subaru retailers through the end of the 2022 calendar year. The 2023 Subaru Soterra was in high demand, and customers who did not get on the reservation list will now have to wait until 2023 to get a 2024 Solterra EV.
