Aging Subaru Impreza Jumps Off The Charts Ahead Of Next-Gen Launch

The aging 2023 Impreza pulled off another impressive feat. Before the all-new next-generation Impreza hatchback models arrived, the outgoing model sales were up an incredible 126.0% in May compared to last year. Impreza sales went up more than any other Subaru carline except for the BRZ in the percentage of increase. Subaru of America (SOA) reports the aging Impreza had 3,939 sales in May compared with 1,743 compact models delivered to U.S. customers in May 2022. That's an increase of 126.0 percent. It was the highest growth percentage of any Subaru carline except for last month's BRZ sport coupe. Even more impressive is that Impreza has 16,337 models sold in the first five months of 2023 compared with 12,202 for 2022. That's a 33.9 percent sales increase year to date over last year's sales. By comparison, the hot Crosstrek is up only 5 percent, Outback is up 1.5 percent, and Forester is up 17.8 percent year to date. Why is the aging Impreza selling so well? Subaru of America is giving compact car customers an excellent incentive to buy now. Subaru offers 3.9 percent financing on specific 2023 Impreza models and a $255 monthly lease on some sedan trim levels. Subaru wants to move the remaining models, so many more buyers are taking advantage of the discounts. You should wait if you are still deciding whether to buy a 2023 model or the new next-generation 2024 Impreza. The Impreza compact car finally gets its overdue remodel. Instead, the hatchback body style offers the utility and efficiency small car shoppers are looking for in a compact vehicle. A new 2.5-liter engine The most significant improvement for the 2024 Impreza will be the new Impreza RS trim level, which gets a new 2.5-liter engine upgrade. The RS will be the model that breathes new life into the all-wheel-drive compact car. When Subaru of America offered the 2.5-liter engine in the Crosstrek subcompact SUV, sales shot through the roof. Expect the same positive results for the hot Impreza RS hatch. What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Impreza? The 2024 Subaru Impreza Base hatchback starts at $24,085, the Sport hatch starts at $26,085, and the all-new RS hatch with the 2.5-liter Boxer engine starts at $28,975. Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,090). Subaru of America says the new sixth-generation 2024 Impreza hatchback will arrive at U.S. retailers this summer. However, customers should know that the new Impreza will now be manufactured in Japan, not the U.S. factory. As a result, it could take longer for new models to arrive than before. Last month, the 2023 Subaru Impreza had an impressive sales increase, and because so many buyers took advantage, there may be few 2023 models left at the special pricing. But the all-new 2024 Impreza has fewer trim levels but offers more value for compact hatchback car shoppers.
