2 new models for 2015 Toyota GT86 won’t be enough to attract wider audience
Sales of the Toyota GT86 have dropped since its launch in 2012 and Toyota is bringing out 2 new models to make the sports coupe more accessible to a wider audience. The revised Toyota GT86 gets a new special edition Giallo and new Aero models for the 2015 model year. And the new 2015 GT86 Primo reduces range entry-point price by more than 2,000 British Pounds to 22,995. “Early Bird” GT86 Primo buyers will get another introductory savings of 500 Pounds, taking the starting price down to 22,495 for a limited period. Will it be enough to increase sales?
New features on 2015 GT86
2015 GT86 gets new features like a shark fin antenna, carbon-effect dashboard trim and tire pressure warning system. Toyota brings out 2 new models to try to attract new buyers to the rear-drive sports coupe. All versions still come with a front-mounted naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer engine with rear wheel drive, together with a well-balanced chassis with a low center of gravity. GT86 still comes with the great driving dynamics that made it a big hit in 2012, but is this enough to get performance enthusiasts excited again? Many fans are still wanting a turbocharged model with more power.
2 New models for 2015
The new 2015 GT86 Aero comes with a body kit, large rear spoiler and front, side and rear skirts. The new look is topped off with a set of 18-inch OZ Ultraleggera alloy wheels with an anthracite grey finish. Scion also launched the new 2015 FR-S Release Series 1.0 recently to attract new buyers.
The new special edition 2015 GT86 Giallo comes with special Giallo Edition black leather seats (heated for the driver and front passenger), a black GT86 side decal, gloss black door mirror housings and vibrant Giallo yellow metallic paintwork. New options for 2015
Toyota has created a new Carbon Pack for all versions of GT86 for 2015. It adds carbon-effect door mirror covers and rear bumper protection plate, plus rear parking sensors. Other options include a JBL Pack, navigation, and leather and Alcantara seats with front seat heaters.
The new 2015 Toyota GT86 arrives with two new models and a lower entry point for driving enthusiasts. Toyota brings out the 2 new models and lowers the entry point on the two-door sports coupe to make the GT86 more accessible to a wider audience. It will likely draw a few new buyers into UK showrooms but Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ still need a turbocharged model to attract many new performance buyers and create a new excitement around the sports coupe. For now, performance enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer.
