Mazda Adds Goodies To Every Trim of the 2018 CX-5 Crossover - New Prices

Mazda's 2018 CX-5 crossover has new stuff, at every price point.

Mazda has just announced the prices of the 2018 CX-5 crossover along with a list of changes. The CX-5 received an update in 2017, but for the new model year, Mazda has opted to throw in some standard features to attract buyers. However, they come at a cost.

The biggest mechanical change for the 2018 CX-5 model year is the addition of cylinder deactivation technology on all trims. The idea is fuel savings, of course, but Mazda seems to be hedging its bets on whether the change will be seen on EPA estimates. Mazda says, "The engine has the ability to imperceptible shut down the two outside cylinders at cruising speeds to maximize efficiency. It is designed to assist in improving real-world efficiency rather than simply in cataloged evaluations..."

Base Mazda CX-5 Sport Changes and Prices
The base Sport trim now has a leather steering wheel, leather shift knob, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert standard. Active safety like forward collision prevention with automatic emergency braking is not standard, but available as a package. The 2018 Sport AWD will start at $26,425, up from the 2017 price of $26,285.

Mazda CX-5 Touring Changes and Prices
The mid-trim CX-5 Touring will add standard 19-inch allow wheels and the full i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety features. The 2018 CX-5 Touring AWD now starts at $28,490, up from the 2017 price of $28,155.

Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Changes and Prices
Mazda's well-equipped CX-5 Grand Touring trim adds new 2-position memory driver’s seat and a 6-way power adjustable passenger seat. The Grand Touring CX-5 AWD starts at $31,920, up from the 2017 price of $31,135.

The new 2018 Mazda CX-5 will arrive at dealers in December.
