CATL supplies electric batteries to Tesla and is the largest EV battery producer in the world. Now, CATL chief scientist says energy dense M3P batteries are already in production, debut next year. This news potentially means new energy-dense batteries for Tesla.
At the 2022 World EV & ES Battery Conference in China yesterday, CATL chief scientist Wu Kai said the M3P batteries have already reached volume production and will hit the market in 2023.
CATL says it would now be sending samples to automakers for further testing.
Electrek says, "we don’t yet know what that official density will be, but for comparison, LMFP batteries have a theoretical energy density that’s 15-20% percent higher than LFP batteries, but at a similar price point."
Could Tesla get a new battery next year in 2023?
