How to Unlock All Doors with Toyota Smart Key, Including 2020 Tundra

You can program your Toyota Smart Key to unlock all doors at the same time. It is easy and we show you how, including video instructions.

I think it is fun to share what we all refer to as life hacks. Life hacks are tricks to save us time or to fix things or to just plain make life easier on all of us. Like how to waterproof your shoes using beeswax and a blow dryer. Or how to start a fire using potato chips. Or how your 2020 Toyota 4Runner may have built-in factory remote engine start already.

I have a tip designed to help us all with our Toyota Smart Keys. This will allow you to open all your vehicle doors at the same time. Every Toyota model I tried this on worked perfectly, including the refreshed 2020 Tundra, as well as Avalon, Highlander, RAV4, Camry and Tacoma. I suspect we will have the same luck with all others that utilize the Smart Key.

Smart Keys for 2020 Tundra and other models are convenient

As most people who own a Smart Key already know, when you put your hand on the driver’s side front door, the car unlocks just the driver’s door. This is a nice feature that also provides a layer of safety as well, as it prevents a criminal from jumping in the other doors unexpectedly.

Most of us with spouses and children know, however, that it is this convenience of having all doors unlocked at the same time that may be the key. Get it. Key?

Here is how to program your Smart Key for 2020 Tundra and other Toyota models. First, stand within a few feet of your vehicle. Next, press and hold both the Lock and Unlock buttons for about 5 seconds. You will hear a couple beeps. This should do the trick and it should work now.

Try to put your hand on the door handle and see if it unlocks all doors.

People are already having success with Smart Key tip

My “Toyotajeff” YouTube channel viewer Reflex Kirby tried it successfully. “It worked on my new 2019 Toyota Camry XSE!”

“Very cool. When I would go in my Camry it would only open the front door.” Ali found this frustrating and plans to try this as well.

Salwan was thankful for the Life Hack. “It worked with my truck 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Thanks Jeff.”

These make me happy. I love when I can help make life just a little bit easier, one life hack at a time. By the way, try putting a wooden spoon over your kitchen pot while it is boiling. It should prevent the pot from boiling over quickly.

Time to hear your tips and tricks and life hacks

If this Smart Key tricks works for your 2020 Tundra or other Toyota, leave a comment saying what you own and if it worked or not. Also, feel free to write any tricks or tips you have that might make life just a little bit easier for us too.

It worked, thank you. What I'm needing is actually to disable the smart key system, as this is inconvenient for my driver. Somehow I cannot find how to disable smart key system in the owner's manual. Any tip would be most appreciated. 2020 Highlander LE. Thanks.

Sweet! I am going to try it now on my 2018 Hybrid SE. How do you roll down the windows with the remote, or does that require some programming?

2021 4runner worked to unlock all doors.... thanks!

Question.... How do you get all windows to roll down with the unlock button on the FOB. My 2013 4runner had that feature. I loved it!

Thanks, Steve
