Audi Sales Continue Their Roll Increasing for the 77th Straight Month

For the 77th straight month, Audi continued its run of record sales. May marked the automakers fifth-best sales month and pushed sales for the year to 83,555. May also set a new record for the month as Audi delivered 19,197 vehicles versus 18,728 last year.

As it enters the summer sales season, Audi of America has good reason to be optimistic. For example, May marked the 77th month of record sales for the automaker. It also was the fifth-best sales month in the carmaker’s history. In May, the automaker’s sales increased by 2.5 percent to 19,197 vehicles. The previous record for May was set last year with 18,728 vehicles sold.

Sales Up For The First Five Months

Through the first five months of the year, total sales were up 6.5 percent. The sales increase pushed total year’s sales to 83,555.

“As the summer selling season begins, we are confident that the Audi product portfolio will support our sales momentum,” Mark Del Rosso, Audi’s chief operating officer, said. “That, coupled with the high caliber of our dealer network, continues to attract new fans to the brand and gives us optimism about our performance in a tightening market.”

Led by sales of A4 and A5, as well as SUVs, overall sales rose a total of 6.5 percent through the end of May.

Demand For SUVs a Key Component

Demand for SUVs was a key component of the sales increase. Deliveries in the segment increased six percent over last year and 16 percent year to date. Leading the gains, Q7 showed gains of 3,048 vehicles sold, an increase of 14 percent and the second-best month on record for this model. Sales of the Q5 were also up to 4, 909 cars over last year and Q3 sales posted a modest increase of 1 percent to 1,733 for the month.

A4 sedan sales were 3,011, marking a 9 percent increase for the month and an 18 percent gain year-to-date. Sales of the A4 allroad rocketed 200 percent, increasing to 318 models. Meanwhile, sales of A5 hit 2,047 deliveries in May, an increase of 150 percent over 2016. Year-to-date, A4 sales increased 24 percent.
