With global terrorism on the rise, there is a need for more security-type vehicles. It is a part of the market that Jeep has not operated in until now. Jeep is marketing its largest SUV as a command vehicle, outfitted for law enforcement, protection and elite transportation. The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer Command Operations Vehicle checks all of the boxes for secure transportation and with its size, the 8-seater gives off a commanding presence.

“From Washington, D.C., motorcades to high-profile logistic requirements in every state and county across America, the Jeep Wagoneer COV is set to become a new leader in secure VIP transportation, having already gained a high level of interest from government agencies since its introduction in January 2025,” said Ryan Austin, Stellantis law enforcement program manager. “The Jeep brand’s reputation of rugged refinement sets the stage to make it the standard-bearer for our law enforcement and VIP protection program for years to come.”

2025 Jeep Wagoneer Command Operations Vehicle

This is the first time that a Jeep vehicle has been large enough to fulfill law enforcement’s needs. The police and security SUV market has been ruled by the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Explorer. Dodge has been very successful in the market with its high-horsepower Chargers and Durangos. This is a new market for Jeep and one where it can definitely grow sales.

Jeep says that the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer COV was developed “at the request of, and in cooperation with, federal, state and local government agencies”. The Jeep Wagoneer should be well-suited to law enforcement work because officers need vehicles to be nimble enough to maneuver in dangerous situations and sturdy enough to handle often difficult terrain and hazardous weather conditions. Consider how many times you have seen law enforcement drive through grass or dirt medians to respond to highway crashes. Law enforcement and security details also need to have powerful engines available to avert crisis scenarios. The Jeep Wagoneer has a 420-horsepower Twin-turbo Hurricane engine and can do 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The Jeep Wagoneer earned a Top Safety PICK rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The Jeep Wagoneer has received multiple awards for its comfort level.

Wagoneer Interior:

  • Best-in-class overall passenger volume
  • Best-in-class second- and third-row headroom
  • Best-in-class second- and third-row legroom
  • Best-in-class cargo space of 130.9 cu. ft.

The Jeep Wagoneer COV can easily pivot between being a law enforcement vehicle or a security transportation vehicle. The Wagoneer’s safety features will function well for either use.

Wagoneer’s Safety Features Include:

  • Intersection collision assist system
  • 10-inch Head-up Display with night vision
  • 360-degree surround view camera
  • Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection
  • Full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Rear automatic emergency braking
  • Traffic sign recognition

Jeep Wagoneer Law Enforcement Upfitting Package Includes:

  • All-inclusive lighting and electrical package
  • Whelen Inner Edge front and rear visor interior lightbars
  • Quad Whelen T-ION grille lights
  • Whelen SOLO T-ION side lighting
  • Whelen RST rear upper window interior lightbar
  • Behind grille siren speaker
  • Whelen CenCom Core multi-function siren system
  • Custom wiring harness and Power Distribution Center with dedicated circuits for camera, computer, radio, radar, siren, printer and modem
  • Multiple cargo/weapon storage solutions

Jeep is not saying if the Wagoneer can be armor-plated. Often high-security vehicles have to have a heavier truck suspension to support the extra weight.

The Jeep Wagoneer Command Operation Vehicle is driving into a difficult market. Often, orders are based on fleet operations and are budget driven. Pricing will be key. However, we will always need police vehicles, and it seems that security vehicles are in higher demand than ever before. The 2025 Jeep Command Operation Vehicle can be ordered now through Jeep dealers. The vehicles should be available in Canada in the 2026 model year.
