Ford is letting its customers know that orders for the all-new 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC are open. The Dark Horse SC has 795 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque, which makes it the most powerful Dark Horse ever created. The SC reportedly has a sticker price of $108,485. The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC is the result of a total-package approach to development between the Ford Racing motorsports and road-car teams. Engine, gearbox, aerodynamics, cooling, braking, suspension tuning, steering feel, even tire compounds — engineers and designers looked at it all. Ford reported today that overall sales of Mustangs are up fifty percent in the first quarter of 2026.
“Developing the Mustang Dark Horse SC alongside the Mustang GTD and our Mustang GT3 race car allowed us to create a direct pipeline of innovation,” said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Racing.
“Our goal was to bring the exact tech transfer and lessons learned from our most grueling endurance races directly to our road cars, giving our customers a true taste of what our race teams experience on the track.”
First 2026 Models Are Just Starting Production
The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC was unveiled during the Detroit Auto Show in January. The very first one with VIN number 001 sold for $1.25 million at the Barrett-Jackson auction. The money will go to charity trying to find a cure for juvenile diabetes.
A supercharged 5.2-liter V8 powers the Mustang Dark Horse SC. A single technician at Ford’s Dearborn Engine plant meticulously assembles the engines by hand. The vehicle was designed primarily for the track but the underlying architecture and the latest generation of MagneRide magnetic damping helps to keep the 795 horsepower firmly planted to the pavement for street driving.
Performance-Enhancing Aluminum Hood
The new aluminum hood includes standard hood pins and a massive carbon-fiber vent. This improves cooling and creates 2.5 times more downforce than the standard hood vent on the Mustang Dark Horse. The Mustang Dark Horse SC fascia is crafted from motorsports experience to maximize brake and engine cooling — while maintaining aerodynamic performance and iconic Mustang style. The available Carbon Exterior Package adds a carbon applique to the front and rear fascias and replaces the mirror caps with stunning carbon fiber.
2026 Mustang Dark Horse Track Pack
Engineers took the Dark Horse SC to Sebring and Virginia International Raceway to test alongside the Mustang GTD supercar and the Mustang GT3 race car. By working with the GTD team, Ford was able to adopt Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires for the Mustang Dark Horse SC Track Pack. The Dark Horse SC’s new aluminum hood with a prominent carbon fiber vent generates 2.5 times the downforce of the standard Dark Horse model when the rain tray is removed. The Track Pack also adds 20” carbon fiber wheels. By removing the rear seat in the Mustang Dark Horse with Track Pack, it shaves about 150 pounds off the vehicle weight.
When the 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC will be available
The order banks are now open and customer deliveries are expected to begin in summer of 2026. Even at a price tag slightly over $100,000, the Dark Horse SC is less expensive than many competitors with comparable lap times.
