The Unreal, 2022 Performance Model Y

The 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance is a masterpiece. We just found a video of someone's first impressions of it. If you're considering buying the Model Y Performance, this video is for you.

There's a large number of electric SUV's debuting, and their goal is to try and take down the 2022 Model Y Performance. The 2022 Model Y Performance has a number of new features. It's a dual-motor that goes 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. On the back, you'll see the dual motor badge. If it's underlined in red, the car is a performance vehicle.

The car has an estimated range of 303 miles on a full charge. It also comes with 21 inch Uber Turbine wheels, performance breaks, lowered suspension, and aluminum alloy pedals. The 2022 Performance Model Y has the option for a red coat of paint that changes color based on the light hitting it - different in sunshine -vs- at night or dusk.

This Model Y Performance also has the upgraded white interior with a second row that has adjustable seat backs along with fold flat second row and electronic fold flat releases in the truck. This Model Y Performance does not have the 7 seat option.

The car comes with Tesla Autopilot and the $12,000 add-on for FSD and other features which include driver assistance like auto lane change, auto park, and smart summon - along with future FSD features.

Cost and Force Required to Shut the Doors

This is an $80,000 car. Does it live up to its price tag? After seeing the 2022 Model compared to the Model Y from 3 years ago, there are no panel gaps and the build quality is better.

One thing the owner did not like is the amount of force it takes to shut the doors. You have to slam the doors harder to completely shut them. It may be related just to the Model Y as this owner didn't have the issue with his Model 3.

Interior of the 2022 Performance Model Y

There is a 15 inch touchscreen in the middle of the drivers area, with a navigation map. Tesla gives 1 month of premium connectivity free to new Tesla owners. There is a refreshed interior, with a wireless charging station pad for two phones. There are power adjustable seats on a raised platform, which makes it easy to get in and out of, with a good vantage point to see while you drive.

There is a vegan leather steering wheel that is very comfortable. The view out of the rear view mirror doesn't provide that much vision, but Tesla provides cameras all around the car that help with visibility.

The middle back seat is very uncomfortable because it is very firm and hard. The person in the middle in the back probably won't be as comfortable.

There is spacious storage in the Model Y compared to the Model 3. You can automatically fold the back seats down in the Model Y to maximize cargo room. There is a total of 76 cubic feet of cargo space for people who travel with a family or a lot of gear.

Ride Quality of the 2022 Performance Model Y

The performance Model Y has Tesla's all-wheel-drive that has a low center of gravity with two ultra-responsive independent electric motors that control the front and rear wheels. They were driving in the snow and swerving back and forth in the lot and the car handled it well.

The ride can be bumpy with the new 21 inch wheels. You may want to opts for the long range with the 19 inch wheels if you want to minimize bumpiness in your rides.

The car has a range over 300 miles, but if you are driving it for the performance and speed, you won't get that 300 miles of range. This will cause a higher watt hour per mile and will get you less than 300 miles of range in a full charge. Cold weather also reduces range.

New Features of the 2022 Performance Model Y

One of the biggest questions is about the new features. Does it have the new features and was it built in Giga Texas with the 4680 batteries? Let's go over the new features first.

The processor is being upgrade to an AMD Ryzen processor, which is a second generation quad core processor, which will make the Tesla touch screen and software much faster and snappier.

The 12 volt lead acid battery is getting replaced with a lithium-ion low volt batter which is more efficient and better for the environment, with a longer battery life. This new battery is a much welcomed upgrade.

There is a heated wiper coming which will help unfreeze the wiper from the windshield in cold weather. There will also be 13 speakers instead of 14 in order to reduce complexity. The biggest upgrade is the 4680 battery that will increase range and reduce mass. The first vehicle to feature this cell will be the Model Y produced from the Giga Texas factory.

Based on the past, the performance Model Y in Giga Texas will get the first 4680 battery. The one produced in January, 2022, was built in Fremont, and didn't have the Ryzen processor yet. It's likely that these will come later as the year goes on.

The 2022 Model Y Performance is expensive, but one of the best SUV vehicles on the planet. You have access to all Tesla superchargers and a very spacious interior with a car that performs very well.

Is the video of FSD Beta as bad as it is made out to be? Is it as great as others make it out to be?

This has to be one of the most poorly written “professional” review I’ve ever read. Doesn’t Torque News have an editor or even a proofreader? “Breaks”?!

The Model Y has become the EV crossover industry standard to judge against. And the Performance model rivals super crossovers from Europe in both acceleration and solid feel. It's good that Tesla's customer feedback about improving build quality has been heard, and the quality has improved. The questions remaining for the new model are what performance, weight and range improvements will be seen in the latest Model Ys coming from the 4680 batteries, structural batteries in the upcoming 2022 model. As well as when Giga Berlin will come online, when the Model 3 will get 4680 batteries, and if the Domestic Model Y will get a standard range, RWD model using LFP batteries soon.

I ordered model y performance on February 20, 2022, delivery day between April and May, do you think I’ll get the new cell pack 4680 or the 2170? I’m thinking to cancel the order and wait to order later to get the new cell. Anyone know about this, please help, thanks a lot
