Tesla Vehicle Automatically Parallel Parks: The Days Of Frustrating Parking Are Over

This Tesla vehicle parallel parked itself in a stunning display of skill. Watch as it smoothly enters the parking space, very quickly and accurately.

Tesla is releasing its additional features, such as auto park, and we have video of it in action doing parallel parking. There's much more to discuss here, such as:

  • Can a Tesla vehicle parallel park?
  • How long does it take a Tesla vehicle to parallel park?
  • Do Tesla vehicles do regular parking?
  • What other parking can Tesla vehicles do?
  • Important things to keep in mind when using Tesla auto park

Can a Tesla vehicle parallel park? Yes it can!

A Tesla vehicle recently parallel parked itself. It was as simple as the Tesla owner driving up next to the parking space and tapping it on the visual display.

The user was in Austin, Texas, parking behind a Rivian and pressed the "Start" button to parallel park. Upon doing so, the car drove ahead a bit and then began its reverse into the parking spot.

It diagonally angled itself and went into the parking space toward the back, about a foot away from the back car.

It then angled itself forward and evenly in the center of the parking space and was done!

How long does it take a Tesla vehicle to parallel park?

The owner of this Tesla pressed the start button at the 7-second mark of the video. It took 14 seconds for the car to set itself forward for the parallel parking maneuver.

It was another 20 seconds to reverse back to being a foot from the back car. After that, it was then about 7 seconds for it to center itself in the parking space.

If you add up these times, you have a maneuver that took about 41 total seconds to complete. This is the slowest time it will take, and this should improve in the future as updates and improvements are made.

I don't think I could parallel park in 41 seconds and do it as accurately as this Tesla vehicle did.

Do Tesla vehicles do regular parking?

Tesla vehicles can also do regular parking. Recently, there was a video shown of a Tesla parking in a parking lot and the same procedure was followed to park there - the start button was pressed, and the car went into the parking space.

What other parking can Tesla vehicles do?

Tesla vehicles can do regular and parallel parking, but you will also be able to "dismiss" your Tesla to go park soon. An example of this would be your Tesla dropping you off at the mall or gym and then going to find a parking space in the parking lot.

A Tesla will also soon be able to be summoned from the parking space and drive right to where you are at the entrance of the mall, gym, or wherever you are. This will be useful for someone who is disabled or is using crutches.

Important things to keep in mind when using Tesla auto park

It's important to keep the cameras and sensors of your Tesla vehicle clean when using the auto park feature. That way, your car can see what it is doing.

The performance depends on the ability of the cameras and sensors (if available) to determine the vehicle's proximity to all objects around.

Don't use the auto park feature if you have an attached trailer or anything attached to your vehicle.

The auto park feature is not released to all vehicles yet.

It's great to see these features finally coming to fruition!
