Should Elon Musk and Tesla Be Communicating Better?

Tesla as a company is doing well, but its stock is not. Some say that this is due to Elon Musk being distracted with Twitter and not communicating well about the future. What should be done?

Elon Musk and Tesla

Many are concerned that Tesla's board of directors are missing in action. Is this any different than the past or is it because the stock price is down? Elon Musk is definitely trying to get Twitter going and profitable and this is taking time away from Tesla.

Does Elon Musk just need some key people in the right place for Twitter so he can get back to Tesla. Does Tesla need to provide updates on the 4680 batteries and how the Cybertruck is coming along for release? Tesla doesn't have a PR department and this has been a problem for many in the past.

Elon Musk very much believes in what he is doing with Twitter and free speech. More and more I am seeing people complain that it is distracting from Tesla the company and harming Tesla. But I see Tesla continuing to execute and grow substantially month to month and year to year.

What should Tesla do and should Elon Musk do anything? If the past is any indication, Elon Musk is going to do what he wants. Unless there is a glaring weakness he sees, most feedback is going to go unheard.

The Future of Tesla

Many people own shares of Tesla and if enough of them shared their voice, Elon Musk and the board would be forced to listen. If someone does enough analysis on Tesla, it's easy to see that Tesla is growing and you can hear in every quarter earnings call what the challenges and opportunities are.

Recently there was a giga cast of the Tesla Cybertruck and we found out about this from Kim Java instead of Tesla itself. Why doesn't Tesla share progress of the things it is doing or keep people involved in the development of its projects? Investors want to hear about this or dividends or buy backs.

Elon Musk said that Q4, 2022 is going to be epic with deliveries. If Q4, 2022 is not epic with deliveries, people are going to lose confidence in Elon Musk. I think it would do a lot for investors to see Elon Musk being more involved with Tesla.

But, I don't think he will get too involved unless there is a crisis like the Model 3 ramp from 2017 and 2018. That required the whole company to get all hands on deck in order to release the Model 3. Elon Musk says Tesla can be worth 4 trillion at some point in the future, but right now, that looks like a difficult goal.

If Elon Musk did give news about Tesla and what was going on, would people believe him anyway? He gives hints here and there about what is going on, such as saying Tesla is going to have an Epic Q4, 2022. Elon Musk may have learned from Steve Jobs to convince others that the impossible is possible.

Either way, I think people are looking forward to Twitter having a management team in place and seeing Elon Musk getting back to Tesla. I am looking forward to him getting back to Tesla.

Will Tesla communicate more? Will Elon Musk eventually put people in place to run Twitter?
