Elon Musk Is Aware of Aptera: Why Tesla Won't Make Their Own Fuel Efficient Vehicle

Tesla is not going to make a vehicle like Aptera. However, Elon Musk is aware of Aptera.

Tesla and Aptera: Tesla is Focusing on What They Are Doing

In one of the recent shareholder meetings for Tesla, Elon Musk was asked a question about Aptera. Aptera is a company focusing on one vehicle model and this vehicle model is a very efficient vehicle - it's light, aero-dynamic, and has solar panels.

Tesla has a plan - Master Plan Part 3 - for its future vehicles. This includes continuing to make its existing Model 3 and Model Y, along with future compact vehicles and even smaller version of those vehicles eventually.

Tesla will also make a van and a bus eventually. What this means for Tesla is that there isn't much room for Tesla as a company to make a vehicle like an Aptera. I still think there is a wild card that Tesla could one day buy an Aptera.

Tesla is also focusing on their Energy Business, which basically means selling Megapacks to large companies that sell utilities. And lastly, there is the Tesla Bot, which Tesla is just starting out with and focusing on.

There's a lot that Tesla is doing, and it doesn't make sense for them to make a vehicle like an Aptera. They should let others master that part and make the decision to buy the company if they so decide.

What About Aptera In the Future?

I think the future is bright for Aptera. Elon Musk said in the shareholder meeting that having ideas is not difficult - executing and creating an idea is difficult. I think this is why Tesla isn't making their own version of an Aptera vehicle.

15 years ago, the technology with EVs and batteries was just not progressed enough for Aptera to make a vehicle that could work. Now, Aptera can make a vehicle that works, and they are in the process of executing and making this vehicle.

If Aptera can make their vehicle for a profit and show that there is demand for their vehicle, then I think it will eventually get the eye of Tesla.

Aptera is making one vehicle model. It's an aero-dynamic vehicle with solar panels. The only thing that is customizable is the size of the battery, how many motors, and how many solar panels the vehicle has.

I'm looking forward to seeing how well Aptera does in the future and if they can get to a point that they are making their vehicles for a profit.

Will you get a Tesla or an Aptera?

I put a deposit down for an Aptera car last year. I hope I can buy one if it is finally produced for the average consumer. Let's see.

I applaud what Tesla is done, but the need for an efficient choice for consumers is becoming even more apparent with each passing day. My wife and I have both ridden in an Aptera prototype, and something else that is often overlooked is that they are big FUN. Once the word gets out when more people can experience them, they will catch on quickly.
