The new BMW M4 GTS Concept has its roots in motorsports and is destined to go down in history with other great cars from BMW. This performance M4 is ready for the track and it’s also street legal according to BMW, and performance enthusiasts will be able to buy one soon. The performance division of BMW has come up with another example of what they do best, build cars with technology derived from the race track, with increased power, and features a lightweight design. The M Division has taken the M4 and given it a heavy injection of steroids.

The world premiere of the M4 GTS Concept took place yesterday at the Monterey Car Week in Pebble Beach. This special performance car will be produced in limited numbers and comes with track-ready equipment but can also be driven on the street. Frank van Meel, President BMW M Division says, “Despite its outstanding track ability, it is still fully road-legal. This is racing technology for the road in the truest sense.”

Trailblazing technology

The BMW Concept M4 GTS will come with new technologies that will make their series production debut in a new model BMW says will be unveiled later. BMW Concept M4 GTS will feature the innovative water injection system that was introduced in the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car. It features a significant output and torque boost over the stock M4 3.0-liter TwinTurbo inline six cylinder engine.

The BMW Concept M4 GTS also features rear lights with OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology that gives the high-performance model a new look after dark on the street. Other track-ready technologies include a manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing, both in exposed carbon. Additionally, it gets a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic hood, which lowers the car’s weight and center of gravity. BMW says the wide front air intake optimizes airflow and minimizes front axle lift on the track.

This ultra high-performance M4 GTS will be a beast on the track and will draw lots of attention anywhere it goes. It cranks up the performance quite a few notches from the M4. How much will it cost? BMW has not revealed pricing on the production BMW M4 GTS or launch date. Stay tuned.
