The Top-10 Cars Of 2022 - CR Says Refreshed Subaru Forester Is Best-In-Class

According to a new report from Consumer Reports, the 2022 Subaru Forester Small SUV is one of its Best Cars of the Year and a 10 Top Pick of 2022. CR says Forester meets their very highest standards factoring in performance, road tests, predicted reliability, owner satis­faction, and safety.

The refreshed 2022 Forester is considered “best-of-the-best,” scoring highest in the Small SUV category again as the compact makes its ninth consecutive Top Picks appearance.

CR says, “The Forester received a light freshening for the 2022 model year, updating its looks while adding a more adventurous Wilderness trim. The secret to Forester’s success has been its efficient, spacious design; strong fuel economy; focus on safety; great road-test performance; and strong reliability history.”

The Subaru Forester compact SUV is also the best pick of 2022 because it offers shoppers high value. Forester has excellent fuel mileage, standard all-wheel-drive, highest safety crash scores, utility and cargo-carrying ability, and it’s affordable.

What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Forester?

For the 2022 model change Forester comes in six trim levels; The base Forester starts at $26,320, Premium ($29,320), Sport ($30,890), Limited ($33,000), new Wilderness ($33,945), and Touring ($36,420). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,125).

What is the Forester fuel mileage?

The 2022 Subaru Forester compact SUV comes with standard all-wheel drive and gets an EPA estimated 29 combined mpg and 26/33 city/highway mpg. The Forester comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine.

CR goes on to say, “It is hard to overstate the importance of design. The Forester’s upright shape provides greater access, cabin space, and cargo room than its competitors. The tall roof and large windows provide fishbowl-like outward visibility, giving a wide view of the road and surroundings. And responsive handling and a supple ride further enhance the driving experience. The latest EyeSight suite of safety features is standard.”

The Forester also scored well in safety tests, accident avoidance maneuvers and earned the highest scores in crash assessments conducted by the NHTSA and IIHS.

Under $25,000 CR gives the nod to the Nissan Sentra in the Small Car category. The Nissan Rogue Sport is the best subcompact SUV. From $25,000-$35,000, CR says the 2022 Subaru Forester is the best in the Small SUV category. The Honda Accord is the best midsize sedan, and Toyota Prius and Prius Prime are the best Hybrids.

From $35,000-$45,000, the Toyota RAV4 Prime is the best 2-Row SUV, Kia Telluride best 3-Row SUV, Honda Ridgeline best compact pickup. From $45,000 plus, Ford Mustang Mach-E is the best electric vehicle and the Lexus RX best luxury midsize SUV.
