Subaru’s 2024 Model Preview And The New Next-Generation Parade

For customers who will wait a year to buy a new vehicle, here is the 2024 Subaru model lineup and what's coming. Three next-generation models will arrive and will be worth the wait. Check out the complete report here.

What is new for the 2024 Subaru model change? All 2023 Subaru models are out or have been announced, and new changes and next-generation models are coming to Subaru of America's all-wheel-drive lineup.

2024 Subaru Impreza

The 2024 Subaru Impreza is the only model Subaru of America has officially announced. The next-generation Impreza gets significant changes worth waiting for. The biggest difference is Subaru dropped the sedan body style, and the new Impreza will only be available in a hatchback.

2024 Subaru Impreza

Subaru will drop the 5-speed manual gearbox in the Impreza. All trim levels will now come standard with a Lineartronic Continuously Variable automatic transmission (CVT). EyeSight driver assist safety technology will come standard on all three trim levels, Base, Sport, and a new hot RS.

The new Impreza RS will come with a 2.5-liter normally-aspirated (non-turbocharged) Boxer engine with 182 horsepower and 178 ft-lbs of torque for driving enthusiasts. The RS has a sport-tuned suspension, bigger brakes, 18-inch alloy wheels, SI-Drive, and an 8-speed manual mode with steering wheel paddle shifters.

Subaru of America says the new sixth-generation Impreza hatchback will arrive at U.S. retailers in the spring of 2023.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek

2024 Subaru Crosstrek

Subaru Corporation has announced the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, but Subaru of America has yet to reveal the new U.S.-specification third-generation subcompact SUV. It will get a slightly new exterior design, upgrades to the interior, improved driving dynamics, and new safety upgrades.

In the U.S., Crosstrek will likely continue with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter Boxer engines. Subaru could increase the horsepower and torque but needs to keep the fuel efficiency the same or improve it. We don't expect the Crosstrek to get the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine.

Subaru of America will get a new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness rugged trim level to fill out the new sub-brand in North America. The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness will arrive later than the standard model. The 2024 Crosstrek will be available in the U.S. in the fall or winter of 2023. Outdoor enthusiasts can expect the Crosstrek Wilderness in early 2024. Stay tuned.

2024 Subaru Forester

2024 Subaru Forester

The 2024 Subaru Forester gets a complete remodel, but the new upgrades have yet to be announced. If everything goes as expected, the compact SUV will be redesigned in the second half of 2023 and be available as a 2024 model. The anticipated 2024 Forester release date in the U.S. is about one year away, in the Fall of 2023.

Subaru is tight-lipped about future product plans, and they have made no announcements about the 2024 Forester. Forester will get new exterior styling, interior upgrades, infotainment, and next-generation safety features.

2024 Outback, Ascent, and Legacy

The 2023 Subaru Outback, Ascent, and Legacy received a refresh. In the following year of its product cycle, the 2024 Outback midsize sedan, Ascent 3-Row family hauler, and Legacy midsize sedan will get few, if any, upgrades. There is no advantage for customers to wait for the 2024 models.

2024 Subaru Solterra

Because Subaru of America has sold its allotment of the 2023 Solterra EV, customers who order a new battery-electric Solterra now will likely get the 2024 Solterra models that will be delivered next year. Subaru will make few changes to the 2024 model year only in its second year of production. But there will be a price increase.

The 2024 Subaru WRX performance sedan WRX will be in the third year of its production life cycle. The 2024 WRX could get some upgrades to its options and trim packages. We expect no significant improvements.

The 2024 Subaru BRZ is also in its third year of production since its complete remodel. The BRZ sports coupe could get minor upgrades but nothing significant.

Last month, Subaru CEO Tomomi Nakamura spoke at a quarterly earnings announcement, saying its new model inventory in the U.S. is expected to improve in 2023. For the 2024 models, customers could see even more improvements in the new model availability. The anticipated announcement by Subaru of America is the next-generation 2024 Crosstrek. Stay tuned.

Any idea when the US announcement will be for the Crosstrek and when we can get it? Will it be worth waiting for?

Was excited to see the Imreza RS in the lineup again....only to be let down by no manual transmission option. Come on Subaru, I get the CVT in the mainstream models, but at least give us a MT option in the sportier models.
