What car brand has the most loyal customers? According to a new report from IHS Markit, it's not Subaru. They say General Motors has the most loyal customers and is recognized as the top manufacturer in customer retention.

Subaru is not left out in the 25th annual Automotive Loyalty Awards announced today. Subaru improved over last year when they had no individual category winners. Subaru of America scores two segment winners for 2021. The 2021 Subaru Forester wins the Small SUV segment award, and the 2021 Subaru Outback scores number one in the Midsize SUV segment.

This award reveals Subaru Forester and Outback owners are the most loyal. When they are ready to trade-in or buy a new vehicle, they return to Subaru to buy the Forester compact SUV and OutbackSUV/Wagon models again.

Why are the Forester and Outback popular?

Both the Subaru Forester compact SUV and Outback wagon/crossover owners are the most loyal because of the two model's value proposition in the SUV segments. They both provide excellent fuel mileage, standard all-wheel-drive, highest safety crash scores, utility, and cargo-carrying ability, and both are affordable.
