The 2021 Subaru Forester, 2022 Subaru Outback, and 2021 Subaru Crosstrek just scored The 10 Best SUVs You Can Buy Right Now. See why they rank so high.

What are the ten best SUVs you can buy this summer? According to new scoring from Consumer Reports (by subscription), the 2021 Subaru Forester, 2022 Subaru Outback, and 2021 Subaru Crosstrek are three of the ten best SUVs to buy now.

Consumer Reports picked the three Subaru SUVs because they are high-scoring in performance, reliability, safety, and owner satisfaction scores. The Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek all come standard with all-wheel-drive, off-road ability, and higher ground clearance that sets them apart.

Ranked from first to tenth, CR picked the Kia Telluride number one, the Subaru Forester number two, Subaru Outback number three, followed by the Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Highlander, Subaru Crosstrek, Mazda CX-5, Ford Edge, Honda CR-V, and Hyundai Tucson.

Why do three Subaru models score high?

In performance, Subaru uses a Boxer engine that sits low in the chassis for improved driving dynamics over other models. The lower center of gravity offers improved balance, and you won't get into trouble if you make a quick turn to avoid a crash or an object on the road.

The three Subaru SUVs also score highest in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests. Subaru Forester and Outback each earned a Top Safety Pick+ award, and Crosstrek achieved a Top Safety Pick award.

The Crosstrek brings a 4/5 in owner satisfaction, with 77 percent of owners saying they would buy this car again.

Interestingly, the Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek led all other models in their class in the percentage of owners who would definitely purchase the same vehicle again. Ratings were determined by the percentage of owners who answered "definitely yes" to the question asked by the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey.

The 2021 Subaru Forester, 2022 Outback, 2021 Crosstrek earn high praise from Consumer Reports as one of the ten best SUVs you can buy now. Hyundai scores two SUVs; Toyota, Mazda, Ford, and Honda all scored one vehicle.
