The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is coming this week on Thursday, September 15. Subaru Corporation teased a “new” SUV, and we know it’s the newly-remodeled Crosstrek. Here is what we know and when it’s coming to U.S. customers.
A recent report from the Japan website BestCarWeb says the debut of the remodeled Crosstrek is coming to the Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs from November 18 through 27, 2022. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reveal will be Thursday via Subaru’s YouTube channel.
The live reveal will likely be on Thursday, November 17, at the Subaru of America press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show. BestCarWeb says Subaru Corporation will drop the XV nameplate around the globe, and like North America, Crosstrek will be the name worldwide.
Why has the wait for the new Crosstrek been so long?
Subaru Corporation chose to wait for the 2024 model year to make the upgrades and give the Crosstrek a complete remodel; the 2023 Crosstrek remains unchanged. It’s because of the supply chain issues and global microchip shortages that delayed the new Crosstrek.
When will the 2024 Crosstrek be available in the U.S.?
The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek should arrive in U.S. showrooms early summer of 2023, and Subaru of America could open orders for the new models next spring. The new Crosstrek will continue its strong run and could stay Subaru of America’s best-selling all-wheel-drive model.
Will Crosstrek get a new engine?
We don’t expect significant changes to the drivetrain of the next-generation Crosstrek. Subaru of America will get the 2.0-liter Boxer engine and minor upgrades to improve fuel efficiency. The Crosstrek Sport and Limited will stay with the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine, which could also get minor tweaks to improve fuel mileage.
Subaru of America will keep the Crosstrek Hybrid with the 2.0-liter engine and Toyota hybrid technology and will likely increase its availability to its U.S. retailers.
When is the Crosstrek Wilderness coming?
The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness will be a few months behind the standard trim levels and will be revealed sometime after the next-generation Crosstrek at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Crosstrek Wilderness should start production next spring and will be available to U.S. customers in late summer or early fall 2023.
BestCarWeb says the next-generation model will adopt the current Levorg SGP (Subaru Global Platform) and the new inner frame structure installed in the WRX S4. Look for the Crosstrek to have more room inside, improved ride quality, and the latest EyeSight safety technology.
The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek global reveal is coming on September 15, and the live presentation will likely be at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Stay tuned.
