4 Reasons Why You Say Subaru Drivers Are The Worst

If you are buying a 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, or WRX, beware that other drivers don’t like you. Here’s four reasons why.

Some car brands like Subaru just can’t catch a break and their drivers are judged rightly or wrongly. According to custom license plate suppliers Click4Reg, Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and WRX/STI drivers have the worst reputations among all car brands. They surveyed over 2,000 drivers to reveal the most common impressions people have of drivers of each car brand. If you drive a Subaru, it's not good for you.

Why are Subaru owners seen as the worst drivers more than all others on the road? You have probably heard jokes about Subaru owners. They drive too slow, or the back of their cars is full of stickers, or they are driven by granola-eating hippies from the 60s, or that their cars are too loud. Some of these things might even be true. The survey reveals some interesting findings.

Stickered-up Subaru Outback

When asked for their opinions on different car brands, it’s easy for people to speak up, especially when it’s about other drivers as everyone has an opinion. When asked “Do you think Subaru owners are likely to be fast or slow drivers?”, 40 percent (800 people) said, if they get behind a Subaru, they are likely to be a slow driver. They did not break it down by model, but we are guessing it’s Forester and Outback as some owners tend to be more conservative drivers.

The other interesting findings found 20 percent of respondents said they wouldn’t even date a Subaru driver. 32 percent said they dislike Subaru owners, and a whopping 75 percent agreed that Subaru owners are bad drivers.

This was not in the survey done by the custom license plate suppliers, but Subaru WRX and WRX STI drivers have a reputation for being the most annoying. If you live near a Subaru WRX or WRX STI owner you’ve probably been woken up or annoyed by their loud exhales pipes.

The Subaru Boxer engine has a unique sound and WRX/STI drivers like to make their performance cars even louder by installing custom exhaust systems. It’s called the “Subie rumble” and WRX/STI owners are proud of it.

If you buying a new 2020 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek or WRX/STI, just know you are already disliked by a lot of other drivers on the road. It’s because the perception out there is, you drive too slow, your Outback is full of stickers, you don’t know how to drive, and your WRX/STI is too loud. If you are in a long line of cars looking to merge into slower traffic, don’t be surprised if they don’t let you in. But you love your Subaru and you don’t care what they think.

Forester and Outback are definitely the slowest drivers out there, i thought i was alone on seeing this. They would at least be 4 car lengths further from any car in front of them, everyday in rush hour holding the middle lane of a 3 way hwy. The fastest lane is the carpool lane. Never have the sense to drive in the slowest day.

2021 models out so nabbed an Ascent. It rocks off the green light with plenty of torque! No bumper stickers either!

Well thought out purchase. Likely the Ascent is the best value (price to features) you can get pre-luxury figures. Meaning for something around $42k you can get 3 rows that can hold an adult in the back, massive cargo, heated and vented leather seating, captains chairs, rearview mirror that has compass and can be digital rear camera view, front 180 cam for making sure no one is running across when light goes green, and it's a Subie, so it's got 8.7" clearance, AWD included in the MSRP and they don't ask for $8k above MSRP like the K-pop SUVs.

My wife and I drive a 2017 Subaru Outback limited, often above the speed limit. :) We are in our 70s. It is a good grocery-getter, grandchild transportation, and travel vehicle. No old hippies here. Just people who like a practical vehicle. Our other car is an old BMW sedan that is treated as a garage queen.

There is a far more important reason to hate a Subaru driver other than all of the items listed above in which I tend to agree with. Subaru drivers are analytical over thinkers. 1+1 cannot just equal 2 to them it's just not that simple. When you go out to buy something put your big boy britches on and be prepared to make a damn decision

I used to drive a Subaru Legacy wagon around. It was a great car and I really liked it. I thought about buying a WRX soon after I started working but never ended up doing it. Now we live in an apartment complex and there's a guy who drives a WRX STI and likes to idle his car for several minutes to "warm it up" and rumble before leaving. He was doing this every morning or every other morning between the hours of 5-7am for a while (and waking us up) until we complained to the management office and they told him to quit. He apparently put a muffler on or something so it's not as loud but he'll still sit there to idle it for a few minutes before leaving. It's pretty irritating. I wouldn't care if his car didn't rumble but it's pretty irritating. We have another idiot neighbor who drives a Roush F150 and the exhaust blasts when he starts it and he'll idle even longer in some cases).
Anyway, every time he comes back home you know it: he backs into his space, which has a slightly sloped curb, and you can him rev the car at least a dozen times every time before he finally backs in. You'd think by now he'd be pretty good at driving stick but nope...

With my 20 years experience on road I found that Subaru Drivers are the worse drivers! They are rude, they cut lines, cut corners, they speed and they horn! Incredibly rough drivers have no patience at all! Many times that I encounter near accident on road are 100% caused by Subaru! I dislike the car brand and I also dislike anyone who drives Subaru! A bunch of shitty road rage poor losers buy Subaru!
