2014 Subaru BRZ two-door sports coupe gets cut

The 2014 Subaru BRZ showed up at the Guangzhou International Motor Show in China in a unique cut-away.

Subaru chose to display the 2014 BRZ at the Guangzhou International Motor Show in China in a very unique way. Why not let people see what makes the BRZ two-door sports coupe such a fun car to drive? So Subaru cut the new 2014 in half and took the display to the show in China. Why is the auto parts and accessories show is an important place for Subaru to display the BRZ?

Within the next 10 years, 70% of the world’s automobile growth will come from Asia, primarily from China and India. Subaru along with all the major automakers are shifting their strategic focus to China. The 11th Guangzhou International Auto Parts & Accessories Exhibition gives Subaru an effective platform to tap into the growing China market. What did Subaru show the attendees?

The BRZ cut-away shows its rear-wheel-drive configuration. It also reveals a rigid, lightweight body and powerful brakes assisted by control-enhancing technology. This allows BRZ to quickly shave off velocity while precisely setting up a perfect line in the corners. It features vented disc brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, and it’s lightweight-2,762 lbs. It all adds up for the perfect balance in a two-door sports car.

They can see the Subaru Boxer engine and its horizontally opposed cylinder design. It shows the BRZ 2.0-liter engine placed as low as possible and farther back in the chassis. They also see the Dual Active Valve Control System along with direct- and port-injection technology that helps boost power and efficiency.

The cut-away provides a great view of the six-speed fully synchronized close-ratio manual transmission. Underneath, they see the independent MacPherson struts in the front and independent double wishbone suspension in the back. It reveals a Torsen limited-slip differential that provides improved grip, making it lively and dynamic through the corners.

Subaru plans on expanding its global sales into China and unveiled the BRZ alongside the Forester and Subaru BRZ GT300 for the first time at the 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition last April. This is where the Chinese saw the two-door sports coupe for the first time.

With the cut-away display of the 2014 Subaru BRZ, the Japanese automaker will embody the Subaru BRZ's product concept "Pure Handling Delight -the driving experience taken to a new level.” By showcasing the newly-introduced Subaru BRZ, Subaru intends to enhance the presence of this globally-popular sports coupe in the China market.
