Rogue named 'Best Crossover' in 2014

The 10 Best Family Cars list for 2014 has been released by Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com, naming the Nissan Rogue as the best crossover. No surprise there.

The 2014 Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com 10 Best Family Cars List is the latest in the annual collaboration between the two publications that showcases what they feel are the best family cars being offered. Publishing in the July 2014 issue of Parents, the list includes the 2014 Nissan Rogue as "Best Crossover."

Toruqe News readers, of course, will not be surprised at all by this choice. After all, we put the Rogue to task as a family road-trip machine in our Rogue to Grandma's House trip last month and loved it.

Parents and Edmunds, of course, were more scientific in their assessment, giving the Rogue props for its Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and its best-in-class cargo capacity (which we thoroughly put to the test). A best-in-class starting price doesn't hurt either, of course, nor does best-in-class fuel economy on the highway.

The 2014 Rogue certainly has a lot going for it. It's good-looking, has a smart powertrain, and is very ergonomic inside. We learned this ourselves in our Rogue to Grandma's House.

Although Nissan is thrilled with the accolades from Parents and Edmunds, we feel that our test, which was an actual road trip in an actual Rogue with an actual family, was probably more definitive. Wouldn't you agree?
