Bentley Mulsanne Speed Offers World's Fastest Ultra-Luxury Drive

The new Bentley flagship sedan is the company's pinnacle of luxury and performance providing an astonishing 1,100 Nm of torque.

Bentley has unveiled a new flagship luxury sedan that offers the expected luxury and unprecedented performance. Using its 6.75-liter V8 engine, the new Mulsanne delivers 1,100 Nm of torque and is thirteen percent more efficient than the previous engine of that size. New suspension and steering designs also add to the performance.

Called the Bentley Mulsanne Speed, the new car delivers 537 PS (530 bhp), 811 lb-ft of torque (delivered at only 1,750 rpm), and on-demand sport suspension and steering settings. The twin-turbo V8 gives the Mulsanne Speed a 0-60 mph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 190 miles per hour. The extra 13 percent efficiency the engine offers also means about fifty extra miles of range are added to the ultra-luxury car.

A new S mode gives the driver fuller control over the engine and its output, keeping RPM levels over 2,000 so that the turbos are always primed fro delivery. This also tunes the suspension for Sport mode to stiffen the suspension all around and tightens steering dynamics. Comfort mode, of course, delivers the usual Bentley air-cushioned ride and compliant chassis.

All of this is coupled with a recalibrated engine management system that incorporates cylinder deactivation under light load, dropping the engine to four cylinders for higher efficiency. These improvements mean that the Bentley Mulsanne Speed meets EU6 and U.S. LEV III standards for emissions and fuel economy.

Finally, the exterior of the Mulsanne Speed has been restyled to give it a more assertive look. A dark tint finish, unique to Bentley, is used on the radiator grille, lower bumper grilles, and wing vents. The dark tint carries to the headlamps and tail lights. The same tint can be had as an option on the Mulsanne's wheels.Four new paint colors in the Bentley tradition are offered: Spectre, Candy Red, Camel, and Marlin (near-black, red, tanned brown, and blue respectively).

The new Mulsanne will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show next month and will be available for delivery this winter.
