Lexus to release 175 IS C350 F Sport Special Editions in 2011

When it comes to open air driving, the buyer with deep pockets has a wide array of models to choose from. Nevertheless few of them deliver the power, performance and sheer pulchritude of the IS C350 F Sport Special Edition, available this month. The 175 to be built make only about five for every U.S. city with a population over 500,000.

“The F Sport Special Edition builds on the IS 350C and takes the fun of the convertible up another notch,” said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. “The racing inspired F Sport accessories on this car were precision engineered specifically for this vehicle, allowing us to provide performance without compromise.”

We’ve driven an IS C350, without all the F Sport enhancements, and loved every sun-drenched moment. We’re sure with all the added modifications we’d enjoy it that much more.

This model is only available in two colors, Starfire Pearl or Obsidian, and is recognizable among its brethren by several distinguishing characteristics.

Among these are 19-inch forged alloy wheels with dark graphite finish and Michelin Pilot Sport tires all around. Lowering springs reduce the height approximately one-inch resulting in an uncompromising appearance and lowered center of gravity.

Exterior badging and a Special Build 2011 emblem on the center console also add to the unique appearance of the Lexus IS C350 F Sport. The striking interior features black and red semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats with red stitching.

Less obvious, but equally notable, are shock absorbers developed in association with Bilstein, and sway bars that reduce body roll providing flatter cornering.

The IS 350C F Sport Special Edition standard features include heated and ventilated front seats with wood trim. The Lexus Navigation system features a seven-inch touch-screen, Bluetooth phonebook download, a rear back-up camera and casual-language voice recognition system.

Lexus Enform, the system providing live updates of weather, traffic, sport and stock information via XM satellite radio, is included with a complimentary 90-day subscription. It also features the new telematics system Lexus Enform™ with Safety Connect™ for a one-year trial.

“The IS 350C F Sport Special Edition is a unique package of style and excitement. With only 175 units available nationwide they’ll sell out fast to customers who want power, performance and a little more fun under the sun,” said Templin.

Anyplace the weather’s warm, the sun is shining and the open road lies outstretched before you – it just can’t get much better than driving the IS 350C F Sport Special Edition.
