We’ve spent time recently pondering the popularity of the 2026 Honda Ridgeline - and the Honda Civic, as well. We’ve been looking at why their owners are so enamored with their vehicles.
This time, it’s all about what a new Ridgeline owner thinks, especially after he moved out of a Ram 1500.

Here’s Why This Ram 1500 Owner Switched To The Honda Ridgeline
Let’s let this gentleman take it away in his Facebook post, lightly edited for grammar and clarity:
“I’m new to the group and Ridgeline. Here is my 2026 BE with 1500 miles. Moved from a Long list of RAM 1500s I’ve owned and could not be happier with my new RL. I’m still getting to know my new toy, seeing a few quirks that are new to me, but nothing I can’t live with. What really sold me was I’m 70 and don’t need a ladder [to] get in this truck, it rides like a car, the gas mileage is not in the teens all the time, and it cost[s] a lot less than a dressed up RAM. I am wondering if anyone has added any pinstripes or side graphics to make their RL unique to them? If so, I would love to see the result.”
Commenters chimed in. One offered a source for pinstriping: “Ours has running boards, mud flaps, and pinstripes that the dealer had added to the truck before e we looked at it.”
Others also mentioned how they became “conquest” customers for Honda: “The smooth ride is worth it. (If you don’t need the tow capacity).”
The low ride height was definitely noticed: “I hear you! No ladder to get into the truck. I like the ride and the bells and whistles! Fun to drive.”
The 2026 Honda Ridgeline seems to appeal to those 70 and over.
“Lol...same here had Silverado, F150, Dodge Ram ¾ ton Cummins diesel...which if I was 50 would still have one but I’m 70 and this Ridgeline is perfect. The ride and the trunk sold me.”
“I'm laughing because I just got my '26 BE a little over a month ago, and I'll also turn 70 this year. I have had just about every make and model of truck out there over my lifetime, and the Ridgeline is the best of all of them, at least for what I need at this point in my life.”
“70 years old soon just got a used 23 BE 28,000 miles to tow our 1700 lb camper, it tows like a champ.”
“Just bought mine last weekend. Just do have 200 miles on it . Same thing here turning 70 in a few months. I had a 2007 F-150 STX traded for a Maverick in 24, decided it was too small. The Ridgeline is just right!”
“It is funny how so many people is commenting is 70 years old. I just turned 70 years old myself and I bought a 2026 Ridgeline RTL and I really really like it.”

The Honda Ridgeline And Ram 1500 Have Different Sizes, Missions
We need to point out Honda’s Ridgeline and the Ram 1500 don’t present an apples to apples comparison. The biggest difference is that the Ram 1500 is a full-size truck that competes in a different segment than the mid-size Ridgeline. Price-wise, the Ram 1500 can cost a lot more than the Ridgeline, depending on trim level and options. And, of course, the Ram is available with V8 power, and when so equipped, can tow a lot more than the Ridgeline - more than twice as much, in some cases.
On one hand, a customer switching from a full-size truck probably means very little other than that the customer’s use case has changed. His needs and wants might be different. On the other hand, one can argue that if a car buyer goes from a full-size Ram to a mid-size Honda Ridgeline, that perhaps the Ridgeline is punching above its weight.
Regardless of the case, we have yet another happy Honda Ridgeline customer.
