An Undisclosed New Subaru Vehicle Just Went Undercover For The DTF

What better vehicle to use for undercover police work than a 2022 Subaru Outback, Ascent, Impreza, or Legacy. Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA), the plant where the Japanese automaker manufactures the four models, is donating an undisclosed Subaru vehicle to the Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force today (May 11, 2022).

Subaru can’t reveal which of the four Subaru models they manufacture will be donated, so the Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force can keep it secret.

SIA says, “Scott Brand will present the Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force representatives with keys to a Subaru vehicle donated for undercover use. Subaru says no formal remarks are planned, and it’s strictly a photo/video opportunity related to the passing of the keys and interviews with participants. (Due to being used for undercover work, Subaru will not show the actual donated vehicle).”

SIA says this is the second vehicle they have donated to the Drug Task Force in three years. The Tippecanoe County DTF says, “The mission of this unit is to investigate narcotics trafficking and manufacturing, through combined efforts of surveillance and undercover operations, utilizing detectives who work in a covert and undercover capacity.”

What new Subaru model would be the best for the DTF to use for undercover police work?

We think the best vehicle would be the 2022 Subaru Outback midsize SUV or the 2022 Subaru Ascent 3-Row SUV. Both are family vehicles and would not be suspected for the police to be used to catch drug dealers.

The number one occupation buying the new Outback midsize SUV are educators, followed by healthcare workers (a lot of buyers are nurses), and the third group is people in technology fields.

The 2022 Subaru Ascent 3-Row SUV is a family hauler purchased by growing families and grandparents who need to haul the grandkids. The Ascent is another all-wheel-drive Subaru vehicle ideal for undercover work.

We think the Impreza compact car and Legacy sedan are too small to haul a team of agents with blacked-out windows.

An undisclosed new 2022 Subaru Outback, Ascent, Impreza, or Legacy model is being donated today and is about to go undercover.
