Subaru's New Model Crash History Ranked From Best To Worst Has A Few Surprises

Which Subaru models have the most crashes, and which have the least? Check out the new report, which has a few surprises.

Which Subaru models have the most crashes? Which Subaru models have the least number of collisions? Where do Subaru's top-selling models like the Crosstrek, Outback, and Forester rank? EpicVIN provided us with its study of Subaru vehicles with the most crashes over the past ten years, and there are some surprising results. The crash records listed here represent the number of accidents recorded for each Subaru model over the last ten years. The data is provided exclusively by EpicVin to Subaru Report. 2023 Subaru Forester 10 Subaru models that have the most crash records: Forester - 137,411 Legacy - 107,913 Outback - 107,455 Impreza - 98,788 Crosstrek (2018-2023) - 28,399 XV Crosstrek (2012-2017) - 17,379 WRX - 16,108 Tribecca - 6,750 Ascent - 5,111 BRZ- 5,080 The Forester compact SUV is the number one Subaru model with the most crashes, followed by the Legacy midsize sedan and the Outback midsize SUV. This is likely due to the number of these models still on the road and their popularity among new car shoppers. Although, it's surprising since the Legacy sedan's presence on the road is far less than Forester and Outback, Subaru's two top-selling models in the last ten years. The same holds true for the Impreza, the fourth-ranked Subaru model with the most crashes. There are far fewer Impreza models on the road than the Crosstrek. 2023 Subaru Impreza The newer Crosstrek and older Crosstrek XV subcompact SUV have 53,010 fewer crashes than the Impreza compact sedan, but Crosstrek outsells Impreza by a large margin. Subaru Crosstrek had 155,142 sales in 2022 compared with Impreza, with only 30,846 models delivered to customers in 2022. Another surprise is the number of crashes for the Subaru WRX performance sedan and Subaru BRZ sport coupe. They are Subaru's two sports cars you would expect to have significant collisions considering the younger demographic who buys them and take more risks while driving. And that brings up Subaru's commitment to safety and its stellar safety record for cars involved in crashes. Forester is the number one Subaru vehicle involved in a crash but is also named a Top Safety Pick+ winner by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Subaru Forester has been a safety leader in its segment. The Forester 2-Row compact SUV has been a Top Safety Pick+ winner for 16 consecutive years. All 2023 Forester trim levels come standard with the automaker's EyeSight driver-assist safety technology. A recent report from Money picks the best autos of 2023 and says the Forester is a top value pick for new model shoppers and one of the top five picks in the 2-Row SUV segment. They pick Forester best for its stellar safety scores. The Subaru Outback and Legacy were also named a Top Safety Pick+ winner by the IIHS. Subaru's 2023 Model Top Safety Pick + Winners (TSP+) 2023 Legacy (TSP+ for 17 consecutive years) 2023 Outback (TSP+ for 14 straight years) 2023 WRX (with optional EyeSight) (Second year for TSP+) 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid (TSP+ for four consecutive years) 2023 Forester (TSP+ for 16 straight years) 2023 Subaru BRZ (with optional EyeSight) (Second year for TSP+) 2023 Ascent (TSP+ for six consecutive years) Subaru's 2023 Model Top Safety Pick Winners 2023 Impreza five-door (with optional EyeSight and specific headlights) (TSP for 15 consecutive years). 2023 Crosstrek (with optional EyeSight and specific headlights) (TSP for 11 straight years). Number of crashes is a totally meaningless number unless you also report the number of each model being driven. For example: 100 crashes on a car with 200,000 on the road is different than 100 crashes with 2,000 cars on the road.
