Subaru Crosstrek Is Now The Brand’s Hottest New Model - More Records Set

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek gets hotter as the year goes on. Check out the new record the small SUV set in April.

Is the Subaru Crosstrek a popular vehicle? Subaru of America (SOA) announced April sales, and the 2021 Crosstrek had a best-ever month, beating the entire lineup in the percentage of increase. The recently-refreshed Crosstrek posted a 180.7 increase with 12,599 models delivered to customers compared with 4,489 sold in April 2020.

The 2021 Crosstrek set a blistering pace and is up 83.8 percent year to date, while the closest SUV is the popular Outback with a 40.74 percent increase for the year. The 2021 Crosstrek was updated with a new 2.5-liter Boxer engine with 30 additional horsepower, and it helped launch the small SUV to record sales. Customers can get the new engine upgrade in the all-new Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims.

The only thing that could slow down the hot Crosstrek is the microchip shortage and possible limited supplies arriving from Japan. Subaru shut down the plant in Gunma, where the Crosstrek is manufactured for thirteen days in April.

Torque News checked with a Subaru retailer near Denver, Colorado, and they only have five 2021 Crosstrek models on their lot to sell. Subaru Corporation begins the model change from 2021 to the 2022 year vehicles, which could also be a reason for low inventory.

Jeff Walters, Subaru of America Senior Vice President of Sales, says, “We expect car buyers will continue to make Subaru top-of-mind this Spring, but our results will be influenced by vehicle availability due to the well-documented chip shortages impacting production throughout the auto industry.”

What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?

The 2021 Crosstrek subcompact SUV comes in five trim levels for customers and gets a small price increase. The base trim is priced from $23,295, Premium ($24,345), all-new Sport ($27,545), and Limited ($29,045). Prices include destination and delivery ($1,050).

Subaru should announce the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek this summer, and it won’t have many upgrades in the fifth year of its second-generation life cycle. Look for few changes to the 2022 Crosstrek, but the 2023 Crosstrek will be the model to watch. Recent reports say the compact SUV will get a new fuel-efficient 1.5-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine. Read the Torque News report below.
