Subaru Ascent Family Hauler Is The Surprise 3-Row SUV Best Value Pick

What is the lowest cost-to-own 3-Row SUV? According to a new report, the 2021 Subaru Ascent is the overall winner in the fastest-growing category.

Does the 2021 Subaru Ascent offer good value for 3-Row SUV shoppers? According to a new report from Kelley Blue Book (KBB), the Subaru Ascent is now the lowest cost-to-own family hauler. In the KBB 2021 5-Year Cost to Own Awards, the 2021 Ascent beats a competitive field in the Three-Row SUV segment.

What does it mean for Three-Row SUV shoppers?

KBB adds up all costs associated with a vehicle for five years to come up with the winners. Costs such as fuel, maintenance, repairs, financing, insurance, and one of the most significant factors of all, depreciation, are all factors that affect a vehicle’s total ownership costs.

The 2021 Ascent retains its value better than all other SUVs and has the lowest cost-to-own number in the 3-Row family hauler category. How much does the Ascent cost to own?

KBB predicted the 2021 Subaru Ascent to have a 5-year cost-to-own of $45,935 (including the purchase price), $3,513 less than the Three-Row SUV segment average.

What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Ascent?

The 2021 Subaru Ascent comes in four trim levels. Base has a starting MSRP of $33,345, Premium ($35,845), Limited ($40,645), and Touring ($46,495) trims. Prices include $1,050 destination and delivery fees.

KBB says, “The Ascent takes all the traits that make so many buyers love the Subaru brand – standard all-wheel drive, ample ground clearance, tough construction, and a roomy interior – and amplifies them. This 3-row Subaru SUV has the size and capability to accommodate today’s busy families.”

Along with the 2021 Ascent, the 2021 Forester and 2021 Outback are among the eleven best new SUVs in KBB’s 2021 5-Year Cost to Own Awards. The 2021 Forester wins the Compact SUV segment, and the 2021 Outback takes home the Two-Row SUV trophy.

SUV shoppers have many choices, and according to KBB, the 2021 Subaru Ascent is now the best value in the Three-Row SUV category. Consumers will save $3,513 over five years. Check out more 2022 Ascent news in the Torque News report below.
