Sport Package takes 2016 Subaru WRX to the next level

The factory WRX Sport Package is available from Subaru and can be added to your 2016 WRX to give it more power and a more engaging driving experience. The Subaru STI Sport Package mods are covered under all factory warrantees.

The WRX Sport Package performance parts were developed jointly by Fuji Heavy Industries, Ltd. (FHI, the maker of Subaru vehicles); Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA); and Subaru Tecnica International (STI). The team members who helped develop the WRX Sport Package last year were Kunio Kameyama, FHI Accessory Quality Assurance; Yukiji Nakano, SOA Accessories Coordination; Gordon Yeung, SOA Project Engineering – Performance; and Yoshitaka Yamamoto, FHI Performance Accessories Development.

STI performance exhaust

The STI exhaust will give the stock 2016 WRX a better exhaust note and give it a little more power. Anytime you can make the new 2.0-liter turbo powerplant breathe better it will improve performance over the stock exhaust system. The STI Performance exhaust system has practical benefits that allow exhaust gases to flow more freely, so the 2.0-liter turbo Boxer engine “breathes” better, which helps improve overall efficiency. The performance exhaust removes spent gases quickly and easily under all conditions. We aren’t sure how much power increase there is, but it will effectively improve performance. The system comes with the STI logo stamped on the exhaust tips.

6-speed Short Throw shifter

The Short Throw Shifter is a must for performance enthusiasts. This enables the driver to select the right gear much quicker for a more engaging driving experience. The shorter throw enables faster shifts and has a more positive feel than the original-equipment shifter. Anyone who has experienced this on the track can attest that quicker, more precise shifts translate into an overall more engaged driving experience. The shifter gives the WRX a sportier feel on the road or track. It also comes with a custom Aluminum/Leather shift knob.

STI 15 Spoke 18-inch Black Alloy Wheels

2016 WRX Premium and Limited performance sedans now come standard with 18 x 8.5-inch alloy wheels with 245/40 R18 summer tires on Premium and Limited trims. The WRX Sport package upgrades to unique STI 15-spoke 18" Black Wheels. You might not think that wheels can make a different, but they can have a big effect on the handling of your WRX. The STI 15-spoke 18" Black Wheels help enhance overall visual appeal and and they also improve handling. They reduce unsprung weight, which helps to improve handling performance and steering precision.

Subaru will feature the new-generation EyeSight safety system on the 2016 WRX for the first time here in the U.S. Up until now, it’s only been available on the new Legacy sedan and Outback Wagon. When ordering a 2016 WRX, performance fans can upgrade with the STI Sport Package mods with unique 18-inch black wheels, short throw shifter, STI shift knob and STI performance exhaust system. They can be added to all 2016 WRX trim levels equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The 2016 Subaru WRX will begin arriving at Subaru dealerships this summer.
