Consumer Reports best new cars of 2023 you can buy right now are ranked below according to price range. But, to be picked, all ten have the highest road test scores, good reliability, high owner satisfaction, and top safety crash scores. CR says the ten vehicles were selected from more than 200 tested models as "the best of the best for 2023."

The Best under $25,000

CR picks the Toyota Corolla Hybrid (best small car) and Toyota Corolla Cross (best subcompact SUV).

The Best $25,000-$35,000

CR picked the 2023 Subaru Forester (best small SUV), Ford Maverick Hybrid (best compact pickup truck), Toyota Camry Hybrid (best midsize sedan), and Nissan Leaf (best electric).

The Best $35,000-$45,000

CR picked the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid (best Two-Row SUV) and Kia Telluride (best midsize 3-Row SUV).

In addition, the Forester scored 90/100 in its road test, 4/5 in predicted reliability, 4/5 in expected owner satisfaction, and seventy-nine percent of owners said they would definitely purchase that exact vehicle again.

All 2023 Forester trim levels increased by $550 in price, including destination and delivery. The 2023 Forester comes in six trim levels; The Base Forester starts at $27,620, Premium ($30,620), Sport ($32,190), Limited ($34,300), Wilderness ($35,245), and Touring ($37,720).
