What are the very best ten new vehicles you can buy this year? According to a newly-updated ranking from Consumer Reports (by subscription), the 2023 Subaru Forester is named a top ten pick of 2023. And the compact SUV is named the best small SUV you can buy.
Consumer Reports best new cars of 2023 you can buy right now are ranked below according to price range. But, to be picked, all ten have the highest road test scores, good reliability, high owner satisfaction, and top safety crash scores. CR says the ten vehicles were selected from more than 200 tested models as "the best of the best for 2023."

The Best under $25,000
CR picks the Toyota Corolla Hybrid (best small car) and Toyota Corolla Cross (best subcompact SUV).
The Best $25,000-$35,000
CR picked the 2023 Subaru Forester (best small SUV), Ford Maverick Hybrid (best compact pickup truck), Toyota Camry Hybrid (best midsize sedan), and Nissan Leaf (best electric).
The Best $35,000-$45,000
CR picked the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid (best Two-Row SUV) and Kia Telluride (best midsize 3-Row SUV).
The Best $45,000 Plus
CR picked the Lexus NX350h (best luxury SUV) and Tesla Model 3 (best electric).

Consumer Reports ranks the Forester the number one pick among twenty-eight compact sport-utility-vehicles. In addition, the Forester scored 90/100 in its road test, 4/5 in predicted reliability, 4/5 in expected owner satisfaction, and seventy-nine percent of owners said they would definitely purchase that exact vehicle again.
What is the 2023 Forester price?
All 2023 Forester trim levels increased by $550 in price, including destination and delivery. The 2023 Forester comes in six trim levels; The Base Forester starts at $27,620, Premium ($30,620), Sport ($32,190), Limited ($34,300), Wilderness ($35,245), and Touring ($37,720). Pricing includes dealer fees ($1,225).

Should you wait for the next-generation 2024 Forester?
The 2024 Forester gets a complete remodel, but the new upgrades have yet to be announced. Forester will get updated exterior styling, interior upgrades, infotainment, and next-generation safety features.
