Does Subaru make reliable cars? According to the latest iSeeCars' Subaru reliability rating, the 2023 Subaru Impreza hatchback, and 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid are the best in reliability. See how all models rank.

In the Consumer Reports reliability ranking, Subaru scores seven out of twenty-four automakers in the U.S. market, the same as last year in the updated reliability scores. Toyota achieves the number one spot with a score of 72, tied with Lexus (72), BMW (65), Mazda (65), Honda (62), Audi (60), Subaru (59), Acura (57), Kia (54), and Lincoln (54).

2023 Subaru Impreza hatch

The Subaru Impreza is ranked the most reliable model in Subaru's lineup, according to the iSeeCars study. The Impreza hatchback wagon flies under the radar and is the surprise model.

The latest iSeeCars report says the 2023 Subaru Impreza hatchback scores number one among the five best compact wagons. The 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid scores number one among the ten best plug-in hybrid SUVs and is the second most reliable new Subaru model.

2023 Subaru Outback

The 2023 Subaru Outback is third on the iSeeCars list of most reliable Subaru models. The Outback scores number two best of sixty-one of the best crossover SUVs.

The 2023 Subaru Forester is fourth on the iSeeCars list of the most reliable Subaru models. The Forester scores number four best of sixty-one of the best crossover SUVs.

The 2023 Subaru Impreza sedan is fifth on the iSeeCars list of most reliable Subaru models. The Impreza sedan scores number six, best of fifty-one of the most reliable small cars.

The 2023 Subaru Legacy midsize sedan is sixth on the iSeeCars list of most reliable Subaru models. The Legacy sedan scores number four, best of thirteen of the best midsize cars.

The 2023 Subaru BRZ sports coupe is seventh on the iSeeCars list of the most reliable Subaru models. The rear-drive BRZ scores number five, the best of fourteen of the best sports cars.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is eighth on the iSeeCars list of most reliable Subaru models. The top-selling Crosstrek scores number two best of eighteen of the best subcompact SUVs.

The 2023 Subaru WRX is ninth on the iSeeCars list of most reliable Subaru models. The newly-remodeled WRX scores number twenty-three, best of fifty-one of the most reliable small cars.

The 2023 Subaru Ascent has not been tested by iSeeCars but ranks number eight safest of midsize SUVs. According to Consumer Reports rankings, the Ascent is the most improved Subaru model and now has average reliability compared with new cars.

Conclusion

According to Consumer Reports, all of Subaru's all-wheel-drive models stay consistent with last year's report in reliability except for the Ascent, which improves the most.

The 2023 Subaru Impreza hatchback and Crosstrek plug-in hybrid score highest in iSeeCars scores and the best Subaru model reliability in their category. The 2023 Outback and Forester score a close second and third most reliable in their class.

These reviews are no way accurate. These vehicles are too new. Going back 10 years or so and chech hie many of those models are still on the road without breakdowns. That would be a more accurate stab at which one is more reliable.

This ranking is meaningless without explaining the methodology of how this was rated. Without an explanation of methodology we can only assume this is ranked by how much money changed hands to write it.

Not sure how reliability is tested other than long term ownership and I can attest that my 2014 Impreza hatch is the most unreliable car I have ever owned. While it’s still on the road, approaching 200k miles, and has been lovingly taken care of, it has needed a slew of expensive repairs over several years including a new transmission.
