Jaguar XKR-S revealed ahead of Geneva

There have long been rumors that Jaguar was working on a hotter version of the XKR and thanks to a recent press release, we know that the new Jaguar XKR-S will make its grand debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

As you can see in the image on the left, the new Jaguar XKR-S offers a far more aggressive look than the standard performance-oriented XKR. The front fascia, bonnet, side sills, and wheels give the car a far more race-ready look and across the rear end, a new lower splitter and large rear wing offer improved aerodynamics while adding to the sporty look of the XKR-S. This ultra sporty exterior comes with a creamy center packed full of all of the high end luxury amenities that you would expect from a modern Jaguar vehicle.

Since Jaguar is only teasing us with some information ahead of the March 1st media day opening of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, we only have some drivetrain details but they have provided enough information to keep us all interested. The XKR-S will offer 550 horsepower and 502lb-ft of torque compared to the 500-ish horsepower made by the standard 2011 XKR. Although the press release does not specify the size of the engine in the XKR-S, we know that it will be another supercharger V8 – most likely a 5.0L engine similar to the one found in the current XKR. This 550hp supercharged V8 will allow the XKR-S to dash from 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds (up from 4.6 in the XKR) and reach a top speed of 186mph compared to the 155mph top speed of the standard XKR.

Jaguar has promised that there will be more information, videos and images of the new XKR-S when the 2011 Geneva Motor Show opens so stay tuned to TorqueNews.com for complete details from the start of the Suisse show!
