Introducing the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance

Ford Performance has teamed up with drift champion and Ford Mustang driver Vaughn Gittin Jr to create the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance, a modified pony car that will be sold in limited numbers through Ford dealerships around the country.

Vaughn Gittin Jr is best known for his success in the drift world behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang race car, but his RTR Vehicles brand has been offering unique upgrades for the production pony car for a few years now. Based on the popularity of the RTR look, Ford Performance has teamed up with Gittin’s brand to create the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance.

Since the Series 1 Mustang RTR was designed in conjunction with Ford Motor Company and their performance division, it will be available through your local dealership, but with just 500 planned for 2019 production, they could sell out quickly.

Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance
The Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance is offered with the 2019 Ford Mustang fastback in either EcoBoost or GT form, but the car must have the Performance Pack 1 to work with this RTR package. While there are some performance upgrades, this package focuses mostly on aesthetics, but there are some key go-fast bits as well.

On the outside, the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance starts with a unique grille design with custom lighting, package-specific stripes on the hood and sides of the car, RTR badging and a windshield banner. There are also some functional upgrades on the outside, including staggered 19-inch wheels with high performance rubber and a unique rear spoiler with a Gurney flap.

On the inside, the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance features embroidered floormats, an RTR shift knob, door sill plates and a serialized dash plaque.

The most significant performance upgrade is the Ford Performance-tuned MagneRide suspension system. When coupled with the unique wheels and tires and the adjustable wing, the Series 1 Mustang RTR Powered by Ford Performance should out-handle the non-RTR variant with the same engine.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any pricing on this package yet, but we know that only 500 examples will be offered for 2019. The package will go on sale early next year and it will be available through Ford dealerships, so if you order a new Mustang fastback early in 2019, you may be able to add the RTR Series 1 package.
